Bad news for Ola, Uber and Rapido: In a matter of bad news for cab aggregators  of India like Ola, Uber and Rapido, the government of India is preparing to launch its own cooperative cab service called Bharat Taxi. According to media reports, the launch timeline for this new service has been finalized, and it could change how people book cabs in Delhi-NCR. The launch of the India’s first cooperative taxi service Bharat Taxi cabs may soon face strong competition in the national capital which is currently being dominated by Ola, Uber and Rapido.

Who’s behind Bharat Taxi services?

As per media reports, Bharat Taxi is being developed as a government-backed cooperative model. Aimed at providing reliable and affordable cab services, the government plans to roll it out nationally after the initial launch. Moreover, reports also suggest that a pilot project has already been started, and based on its performance, the service will be expanded across the country in phases.

When will Bharat Taxi launch in Delhi?

As per available information on media reports, the Bharat Taxi service is expected to start operations in Delhi-NCR from January 1, 2026. Once launched, the taxi service is expected to cover Delhi as well as nearby NCR regions. However, readers should note that the government is yet to make an official announcement confirming the exact launch date of the Bharat Taxi  service.

If launched as planned by the government, the Bharat Taxi could emerge as a major alternative to existing private cab aggregators. As the Bharat Taxi services is being planned to be launched by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited reportedly operating on a zero-commission model, it is expected to be cheaper.
