While streaming services have made it much easier for us to find and binge the shows we love, you can be left overwhelmed by the sheer amount of choice. This can leave you scrolling for an hour, struggling to choose something to watch.
But if you’re not currently bingeing a show and need something to fill the void, then television lovers on social media have recently recommended a Netflix show. They say it’s is so good it’s “better than Breaking Bad” – and one person has claimed it could be in the running for the greatest programme of “all time”.
In the TV Suggestions forum on Reddit, one person shared a post about a series called Money Heist, which they said they were watching after being recommended by someone else in the same forum.
They described the show as a “gem” and said that it would rank highly on their list of greatest shows if it weren’t for just one downside – the show was originally recorded in Spanish, so it is only available in English as a dub.
They wrote: “Money Heist is a gem. Thanks to this sub for suggesting it. Only seven episodes in and absolutely loving this show. My brother told me he liked it better than Breaking Bad. Maybe that’s an exaggeration, but wow.
“The only downside is that it’s dubbed from Spain. Otherwise this show might be in the all time discussion.”

A show being dubbed means that the actors on screen recorded the scenes while speaking one language, and in the edit, the lines were recorded in a second language and played over the existing scenes.
In the case of Money Heist, this means that while the actors on screen are speaking Spanish, English speakers can listen to the dialogue in English. This doesn’t affect the action on screen, but it does mean that the actors’ mouth movements won’t match up with the dialogue, which some people may find distracting.
Commenters on the person’s Reddit post were largely in agreement with their praise for the show. Some even said that Money Heist got them into more “international television” and opened up a whole new world of shows to watch.
One person said: “It’s one of my absolute favourites! It’s actually the show that got me into watching a LOT more international television. There’s some great stuff out there that far surpasses 95% of the cr*p that the US churns out.”
Another added: “Goat [greatest of all time] non-English show easily, in my opinion.”

Money Heist is a Spanish heist crime drama that traces two long-prepared heists led by a man named the Professor (played by Alvaro Morte) – one on the Royal Mint of Spain, and one on the Bank of Spain. The story is told from the perspective of one of the robbers, named Tokyo, played by Urusla Corbero.
The show began airing in Spain in 2017, and in 2019, it was picked up by Netflix. It has three seasons split into two parts each, totalling 41 episodes, and came to an end in 2021 – meaning you can binge-watch the whole thing without needing to wait for a future season to wrap up the story.
Money Heist is available to watch on Netflix now.
