In a major boost for billionaire Mukesh Ambani, Reliance Industries continued its hot streak on the stock market, emerging as the biggest gainer as seven of India’s top-10 most valued firms added a combined Rs 96,200.95 crore to their market valuation last week.
How much did Reliance earn?
As per market data, Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries added a whopping Rs 28,282.86 crore to its valuation, which now stands at Rs 21,20,335.47 crore, while the market capitalisation (mcap) of Bajaj Finance jumped by Rs 20,347.52 crore to Rs 6,45,676.11 crore, as India’s stock market witnessed an optimistic trend in equities.
The mcap of HDFC Bank surged by Rs 13,611.11 crore to Rs 15,48,743.67 crore, ICICI Bank rallied by Rs 13,599.62 crore to Rs 9,92,725.97 crore, while the market cap of Hindustan Unilever edged higher by Rs 7,671.41 crore to Rs 5,79,644.16 crore, and that of State Bank of India went up by Rs 6,415.28 crore to Rs 9,04,185.15 crore, the data showed.
The valuation of Narayana Murthy’s Infosys climbed Rs 6,273.15 crore to Rs 6,47,961.98 crore.
Who were the laggards?
Meanwhile, Sunil Mittal’s Bharti Airtel, Tata Group’s Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) emerged as the only laggards among the top-10 pack.
The mcap of Bharti Airtel declined by Rs 35,239.01 crore to Rs 11,98,040.84 crore, and that of LIC dropped by Rs 4,996.75 crore to Rs 5,65,581.29 crore, while the valuation of TCS crashed by Rs 3,762.81 crore to Rs 11,35,952.85 crore, the data showed.
Reliance remains most-valued firm
Meanwhile, thanks to its strong showing at the market, Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries retained its coveted title of India’s most valued firm, followed by HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, TCS, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Infosys, Bajaj Finance, Hindustan Unilever and LIC.
Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Infosys, Bajaj Finance and Hindustan Unilever emerged as the gainers last week as BSE benchmark climbed 474.75 points or 0.55 per cent, with the Sensex hitting a record high of 86,055.86 on Thursday, in line with an an optimistic trend in equities.
