Kristen also operates an Instagram account with more than 8,000 followers. Kristen Messner has additionally developed an interest in horses over the years. She even announced her plans to build a farm called Q&E in Santa Rosa Valley, saying that it was a result of her love for horses. Although Lindsey and Kristen never opened up about when they started dating each other, the former once told Las Vegas Review-Journal in 2011 that he was lucky to meet someone perfect so late, considering that he had a lot of girlfriends over the years. 

Two years after their first meeting, the pair had their first child, William Gregory, in 1998. They tied the knot in 2000. While speaking to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Lindsey Buckingham opened up on the reasons he has preferred to give as much time as he can to his family and said:

“I did see a lot of friends who were parents and spouses — back in previous decades — who weren’t really there and kind of screwed up their kids, and were not there for their family situations.”

Kristen Messner’s skills as an interior designer have been used in multiple properties over the years. This includes the family houses made by her and Lindsey Buckingham on various occasions. Most of them feature glimpses of Kristen’s experience while being raised in Wisconsin and living in Los Angeles for a long time. Kristen and Lindsey have even resided together in a property located in Brentwood until 2019 when their children started growing up. The first house built by Kristen and Lindsey was inspired by the 1920s Mediterranean Revival-style mansion.

While their first child was born before their marriage, Lindsey Buckingham and Kristen Messner had two more children after they tied the knot. The duo’s second child, Leelee Welles, was born in 2000, followed by a third child, Stella, in 2004. During his conversation with the Las Vegas Review-Journal in 2011, Lindsey said that none of his children had started playing guitar. He said that his children have a lot of potential, which plays an important role in bringing out someone’s talent. Lindsey further stated that his children have a healthy ambivalence toward everything that he has done so far.

After being married for 25 years, Kristen Messner filed for divorce due to irreconcilable differences in 2021. Although the duo started living separately in the same year, the houses were located close to each other. Lindsey Buckingham later appeared for an interview with PEOPLE in 2021, saying that he and Kristen have started working on the marriage, adding that every relationship faces certain issues. Lindsey confirmed in another conversation with Rolling Stone in 2021 that he and Kristen were doing marriage counselling.
