He gained wide recognition for his songwriting and production work with several famous artists, including Taylor Swift, Doja Cat, Lana Del Rey, St. Vincent, Lorde, Pink, Florence and the Machine, Kendrick Lamar, and Sabrina Carpenter.

In August 2021, Jack and Margaret were first linked when they were spotted kissing in New York City. The duo stopped at an ice cream shop and later walked through the streets of Brooklyn with their arms around one another. The couple kept their relationship under wraps until May 2022. It was The Substance actress who confirmed their engagement by sharing a snap featuring her exquisite diamond ring. Sharing the snap on Instagram, she wrote, “Oh I love him!” 

After one year in August 2023, Jack and Margaret tied the knot in Long Beach Island, New Jersey. The couple’s wedding was nothing less than a star-studded event. The ceremony was attended by the couple’s family and friends, including Taylor Swift, Channing Tatum, Lana Del Rey and Zoe Kravitz. Recently, Margaret told Vanity Fair in a cover story how she found her person in her husband, Jack. She said:

“I’ve always been very love-oriented. I’ve always been looking for my person, and I met Jack.”

In a 2025 interview with Cosmopolitan, The Substance actress shared how she felt lonely in her past relationships. However, things changed after Jack came into her life. She shared that with Jack, she felt safe and comfortable. She mentioned that earlier, she felt something was missing in her life.

“I felt really lonely in past romantic relationships because I wasn’t with my person. It’s like I was seeking something. I don’t feel like that anymore. Jack makes me feel safe and comfortable. I spent so many years trying to be someone’s perfect girl, and that girl changed over and over again. But I can’t lie to Jack. I can’t be that for him — he’d see through it. So I just have to be myself. He’s been the person I’ve pictured my whole life. And I’m not even saying that metaphorically.”

Jack Antonoff battled with anxiety and depression after his sister’s death. He was just 18 years old when he experienced the loss. His little sister was just 13 when she died of cancer. John also lost his cousin, who died while fighting in Iraq. These two losses took a toll on John’s mental health. Speaking about his battle with depression, he once told ABC how things changed around him at the time. Later, in a 2017 interview with People, he shared that to cope with these losses, he used music. He told ABC in 2015:

“At that point in life, that’s when you’re supposed to be carefree and think that the world is wild open and anything is possible. I had the opposite experience. My world felt very much closed and it felt like anything horrible was possible. To this day, I still have very intense anxiety and depression.”
