Meghan Markle has said she will be the “proudest mum” if little Lilibet becomes a “young activist”.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, expressed her admiration for 15-year-old Avery Colvert, the founder of Altadena Girls, an organisation set up to support teen girls in the aftermath of the January wildfires in southern California. Meghan and Prince Harry, 41, have been big supporters of the organisation since it launched.

Meghan, who has voluntered for the organisation this year, told Ms Colvert today: “You never thought your work would grow to be this big. And even if it hadn’t, it still would have been meaningful and made an impact. My goodness, if our daughter turns out to be anything like you, I’ll be the proudest mum.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made donations to Altadena Teen Girls Fire Recovery through their Archwell Foundation in January. More than 30,000 people fled their homes as fires raged across part of California at the time.

This led to Ms Colvert, and friends Lula Seifert, Journey Christine, and Laurel Kleeger-Read to create the charity, which caught Meghan’s attention. The mum referred to it in an interview this week with Town and Country magazine, in which she also spoke about her own family.

Meghan and Harry rarely refer to or picture Lilibet, four, and Archie, six, on social media, so insights in mainstream media offer curious fascination. In the latest interview, Meghan said she would be delighted if her daughter could follow in Ms Colvert’s selfless footsteps.

And, in footage shared to Instagram over the weekend, Meghan was seen with Prince Harry and their two children on an outing to Lane Farms in Santa Barbara and afterwards carving their Halloween decorations at home.

Meghan, a former actress, usually obscures her children’s faces by only photographing them from behind. Yet, her latest video offered fans a peek at their features as the kids ran around while Prince Harry worked on his pumpkin.

Although the pictures were blurry, it is the first time a photo of Lili’s face has been shared publicly since 2022, when an official portrait was released for her birthday. The youngster was pictured wearing a pale blue frock with a white bow in her reddish locks while she sat in the grass during her birthday party.

People also got a glimpse of the top half of Lilibet’s face to mark her fourth birthday in June. The Duchess shared a black and white snap of herself cuddling Lilibet, who was sat on her lap, with the pair both sporting windswept hair.
