The Mets will take on the Giants for the series finale of a four-game set in San Francisco on Sunday.

After a strong start in his season opener, Kodai Senga will take the mound for the Amazin’s.

Senga looked dominant at times during his six-inning outing against the Cardinals, punching out nine hitters while allowing just two earned runs.

While we shouldn’t take one start as gospel, Senga’s stuff looked much improved from last year, throwing his fastball more than two miles per hour faster in the start than he did a year ago and getting much more movement with his sweeper.

It was a great sign for the starting pitching-hungry Mets, who last saw Senga struggle to keep runs on the board after coming back from a hamstring injury last summer before being sent down to the minors in September.

He gets another struggling lineup in the Giants, who have been among the MLB’s worst teams at the plate during the early going of the 2026 season.

Through Friday’s play, the Giants rank bottom-five in OPS (.599), home runs (four), and runs scored (24).

They’ve scored three or fewer runs in six of their eight games heading into Saturday’s games.

Nolan McLean took a perfect game against them into the sixth inning on Friday night.

It’s only one start, but it’s worth seeing if Senga is back to his pre-injury form.
