Miley Cyrus Says Selena Gomez Will Appear In Hannah Montana Anniversary Special, Credits Alex Cooper

Soon it will be time to relive our childhood days with the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special.  It has been two decades since Hannah Montana originally premiered on Disney Channel. With the show being an absolute hit with the teens and pre-teens, Hannah Montana also introduced us to one of our favourite pop stars today, Miley Cyrus. Since she came to the spotlight with her role on the show, Miley has established herself as a Disney legend again and again. And now with only a few days for the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special to premiere, Miley has confirmed the appearance of a very special guest.  

Miley Cyrus’s very special guest on the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special is fellow Disney star, Selena Gomez 

Recently, Miley Cyrus sat down for a conversation with Variety and talked about working with one of her superfans. Well, if you haven’t guessed it, it is the Call Her Daddy host, Alex Cooper. Through her, Miley learned what fans like her were really eager for in their upcoming special. She even credited Alex for helping arrange an appearance from her fellow Disney star, Selena Gomez, on the special. Officially confirming Selena as a special guest who will take part in the celebration, Miley said, “I love Selena, but I didn’t know how much our friendship meant to fans.”  

Miley further revealed that it was Alex Copper who encouraged her to open the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, driving from Malibu to the soundstage. She confessed that before Alex gave her this idea, she didn’t really think about the correlation between how ‘Hannah’s’ house was in Malibu and now her own house is in Malibu. Furthermore, Miley went on to confess that to prepare for the upcoming special, she had to go back to practising Hannah Montana’s iconic songs, including Best of Both Worlds.

She claimed that this is the first time she has sung the song since 2008. Yes, you read that right! However, despite the decades-long gap between when she last sang it and now, it only took Miley three rehearsals to feel it all coming back to her. Miley said: 

“It was literally a bike. The dancers were doing stuff, and I’m like, ‘That’s not original!’ And then they’re like, ‘Well, we are trying to make it modern.’ I’m like, ‘It ain’t broke — don’t fix it!’”  

Did Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez feud in real life as they did in Hannah Montana? 

Well, to jog your memory, Selena Gomez was also part of Hannah Montana’s cast, appearing in a recurring role in 2007. The role in question was that of a pop star named ‘Mikayla,’ who used to always feud with ‘Hannah Montana.’ Back in the day, rumours were also rife that Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez were feuding in real life. 

Selena shut down the rumours in a 2016 interview with W, where she told the outlet that they never feuded. However, Selena did confess that both she and Miley liked the same guy when they were 16. She said that it was just like a Hilary Duff-Lindsay Lohan thing, which made her go, ‘Oh, my God, we like the same boy!’ By the time of her interview, Selena said that both of them had already moved on and had completely settled into their lives.
