For the unversed, Milind Soman tied the knot with Ankita Konwar on April 22, 2018. At the time, Milind was 52, and Ankita was 26. While this huge age gap never impacted the couple’s marriage, over the years, they have been trolled for the same. In a recent interview with Zoom, Milind revealed that trolling over their 26-year age gap affected his wife, Ankita. He explained that, as Ankita’s experience was limited, the trolls affected her. However, things changed when they discussed the thing. Milind added that today people have accepted their relationship and often wonder how their marriage lasted 13 long years. He was quoted as saying:

“It didn’t bother me. It would have bothered Ankita because her experience was limited. We discussed it. I told her that they don’t know who you are, and they don’t know who I am, so whatever they say is their opinion, and she understood it very quickly, big credit to her. After that, she wasn’t bothered about it, and I think that’s also because of the closeness of our relationship. Today, there is much more approval of our relationship. Not that we need it. It is just nice to see. People are comfortable with the fact that it has lasted 13 long years.”

When Milind Soman credited his wife, Ankita Konwar, for making his life better

Milind never shied away from accepting the fact that he shares an age gap of 26 years with his wife, Ankita Konwar. Earlier, in a 2025 interview with Hindustan Times, Milind shared that, as his wife is 26 years younger than he is, there has been a huge difference in the way she thinks, and her upbringing was also different. While Milind is Maharashtrian, Ankita is Assamese. He highlighted that although they are from different generations, they have found a space where they merge their thoughts and emotions. Milind also credited his wife for making his life better. He was quoted as saying:

“She’s Assamese and I am Maharashtrian, and we are as different as anything can be. We come from different generations, different parts of the world, with different languages and different food habits. Yet the fact that we have managed to find each other and find that space in which we merge our thoughts, emotions and our spirits, that is something very special. I can say that my life has only become better because of her.”

Milind and Ankita first crossed paths at a Chennai hotel. At the time, Ankita was working with Air Asia as a cabin crew member and was posted in Chennai. It was Ankita who first spotted Milind in the lobby. She was a big fan of him. Ankita went to take his autograph, but as he was busy, he didn’t notice her. Later, the duo met again at the hotel’s nightclub, and this time, Milind also noticed her. Speaking about their love story, Ankita once said to Humans of Bombay:

“I got posted in Chennai. I was staying in a hotel with my colleagues. Once, in the lobby, I saw a tall, rugged man. It was Milind Soman! I was a big fan! So I went to say hello, but he was busy. A few days later, I saw him again at the hotel’s nightclub. I kept looking at him and he was staring at me too! My friends urged me to go talk to him. So I asked if he’d like to dance and he obliged! There was a vibe – I could feel it!”
