A mother-of-three was attacked inside her home by a crazed celebrity dentist who tried to choke her before he was shot dead by police.

Chloe Paul, a photographer, was working from home when Dr Steven Lin broke into her apartment in Potts Point, Australia, and demanded money on Tuesday.

He pinned her to the ground and started beating her but she managed to fight him off, thanks to her background in boxing, her family said.

Paul then managed to call police who tasered the 41-year-old before shooting him dead.

Police say that when they confronted him he lunged at officers with a knife, resulting in the taser being deployed. When this was “ineffective” a single round was fired at Lin, who died at the scene.

It is thought Lin was affected by drugs at the time of the incident.

He also assaulted one of Paul’s neighbor’s in the apartment building’s shared laundry room.

Paul underwent surgery for a broken nose on Wednesday.

Once a world-renowned dental nutritionist, Lin fell into ice addiction in recent years following the breakdown of his marriage as it emerged that he had fathered a child in secret.

Lin also once owned two thriving dentist practices on the NSW Central Coast and wrote the best-selling book The Dental Diet.

“As a passionate preventive, whole health-advocate, Lin focuses on the understanding of dental disease through nutritional principles,” his website states.

“His work has highlighted that crooked teeth and the orthodontia epidemic are diet based problems and the need for public health policy to prevent braces in the next generation of children.”

He most recent social media post was on February 23 when he shared a video of a US man who believed that all vaccines should be avoided for children.

“Just needs to be said,” Lin captioned the clip.

Days before his death, Lin faced Wollongong Local Court charges over allegations he choked and assaulted a sex worker and stole $1400 from her in March 2025.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the charges were dismissed after the complainant did not appear in court.

The court was told that at the time of the alleged incident, Lin had recorded four breaches of bail, two assault matters and two choking-related offenses.

Court documents also alleged he had multiple breaches of apprehended violence orders, as well as stalk/intimidate offenses, and described him as having shown violent behavior towards women and disregard for court-imposed conditions.
