Marks & Spencer rivals SKIMS with its largest lingerie drop to date, including ‘totally transformative shapewear’ and buttery soft essentials
Marks & Spencer has just launched its biggest lingerie range to date, with a 300-piece collection ranging from bras to briefs, shapewear, and essentials.
Named BODY, the range has been designed with one focus at the forefront: “underwear should be on the body, not on the mind”. Split into four easy-to-understand categories, BODY aims to reduce the stress and difficulty of finding the right lingerie.
Rather than uncomfortable, restrictive styles, M&S is focusing on seamless, sculpting, and confidence-boosting pieces that rival the likes of Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS.
The four categories include Body Invisibles, featuring ultra-stretch technology and smoothing properties. This is the answer to tackling VPL’s. Next up is Body Sculpt, which aims to lift and sculpt the areas that need it most, along with its advanced cooling technology.

Thirdly is Body Soft, essentially what it says on the tin, this category features buttery smooth pieces that are actually comfy to wear all day long without sacrificing on aesthetic. Last up is Body Lace. Long gone are the days of scratchy and constrictive fabric; M&S is changing the game with its barely-there lace that smooths and shapes all the right places.
Discussing the launch, Charlotte Davies, Director of Lingerie at M&S, says “Lingerie is in our DNA, and we are raising the bar once again with the launch of our new BODY range of smoothing lingerie. Supported by 100 years of lingerie expertise, the collection brings together stylish silhouettes, immaculate fabrics and innovative features and benefits. Every detail is considered, every finish is precise and every fit is flawless. The collection is designed to support women with modern underwear solutions which smooth, sculpt, and shape whilst delivering a flawless fit, and all-day-long’ comfort.”
After conducting some customer research, M&S found that 99% of women prioritise comfort, 89% want lingerie that boosts confidence, 68% can’t wait to take their bra off at the end of the day, and 45% don’t believe stylish underwear should cost more. It seems the high street retailer has just cemented itself as the place to go for high-quality, comfy, but still sexy, lingerie without the SKIMS price tag.
A few of our top picks include: Body Soft™ Smoothing T-Shirt Body, £25; Body Invisibles™ Non Wired Strapless Bra, £22; Body Sculpt Firm Control Seamless All In One, £28; Body Lace Wired Minimiser Bra (C-H), £22.
For alternative lingerie that feels just as good as it looks, Bravissimo offers bras, matching sets and shapewear for those with bigger busts. Alternatively, I tested five of the best Skims-style bodysuits, with a surprising £20 option coming out on top.
