Beloved retailer Marks and Spencer, which was first founded in 1884, has delighted shoppers with the return of a popular sweet treat with many confessing they “need” to snap it up
Marks and Spencer has confirmed the return of a “jaw-dropping” Easter treat that’s got shoppers desperate to snap it up. The beloved supermarket is phenomenally popular among an expansive customer base thanks to its wide range of high quality goods and products.
Like many of its high street competitors, the company releases seasonal items ahead of annual calendar highlights like Easter, Halloween, Christmas and more.
This year is proving no different, with the iconic retailer delighting shoppers after unveiling the newest addition to its shelves ahead of Easter, its Red Velvet Hot Cross Buns. Inspired by the cake of the same name but with red colouring that’s suitable for vegetarians, the decadent bun has caused a stir.
Sharing an image of the sweet treat to its millions of followers on Instagram, M&S penned: “New in the M&S Foodhall – red hot bun fun!
“Our jaw-dropping, mind-blowing FILLED hot cross buns are BACK and this year, we’ve added a velvety new addition to the mix too!
“Made with dark chocolate chips and a smooth white chocolate filling, our Red Velvet Filled Hot Cross Buns are the ultimate Easter treat. Plus you can enjoy straight from the pack, no toasting or topping required!”
The retailer added: “Find them in your local M&S Foodhall and on @ocadouk NOW”. The hot cross buns cost £3 for a pack of four.
In the comments section, fellow Instagram users were keen to share their thoughts. One person said: “Yes please”.
Another said: “Oooooooo yum yum yum” while a third simply quipped: “Need”. Another shopper commented: “Oh these are going on my easter shopping list”.
And someone else asked: “Please tell me there are fun gluten free flavours this year???!!!” To which, M&S replied: “We have a gluten free Apple and Brown Sugar Hot Cross Bun”.
Other shoppers simply tagged their friends to direct their attention to the post.
The retailer is offering a variety of flavours in its coveted hot cross bun line up, including original fruit, Granny Smith Apple, Extremely Lemony Curd filled, Extremely Chocolatey, Extremely Cheesy, ‘Cinn-a-yum’ and many more. There’s also a selection of mini hot cross buns in varied flavours.
The traditional hot cross bun is typically eaten on Good Friday though in recent times, they’re enjoyed throughout the spring and in the run up to Easter.
Marks and Spencer had humble beginnings as a market stall in Leeds, originally founded in 1884, before going on to become the high street juggernaut so known and loved today.
The company is renowned for its high quality products which span multiple departments. Shoppers can peruse the latest fashion trends, an array of homeware, lingerie, beauty products and more. Equally as popular is its famed Food Halls, which offer branded food and drink as well as M&S’s own in-house range.
