A film fan named Eccy has shared a classic gangster drama that has just been added to Netflix and people are very excited that they can stream it immediately

While platforms such as Netflix and Prime Video continuously launch their own original content, this hasn’t diminished the appeal of timeless classics also available on these services.
These often materialise on streaming platforms without fanfare, meaning some subscribers might miss them. Fortunately though, this is where a cinema enthusiast called Eccy comes in.
Taking to social media, the TV reviewer regularly shares his recommendations with his 395,900 TikTok followers seeking their next entertainment fix.
In a recent post, Eccy highlighted that one of the best gangster films ever made has quietly appeared on streaming giant Netflix, and many fans don’t seem to have noticed.
Eccy said: “So, Netflix just secretly added one of the best crime gangster films you will ever see.” But which film is it?
The film in question is The Untouchables, the multiple award-winning crime thriller from 1987. It features Kevin Costner, Sean Connery, Andy Garcia, and Robert De Niro.
The legendary blockbuster was helmed by Brian De Palma, who also directed Scarface and Carrie. It chronicles Costner’s character, Elliott Ness, who receives orders to track down and bring to justice notorious Chicago mobster Al Capone – portrayed by De Niro.
Despite nearly four decades passing since the film’s release, it remains celebrated by audiences as among the greatest crime films ever produced.
Eccy enthused: “Now, the action scenes are brilliant. The performances are obviously amazing, and this film is really up there with one of the best crime gangster films you will ever come across.”
The picture holds an impressive 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has accumulated over 100,000 viewer ratings throughout the years.
It received an equally warm reception upon its initial release as well. The film secured four Academy Award nominations, with Sean Connery taking home Best Actor in a Supporting Role and a Golden Globe for the same category.
Little wonder, then, that numerous viewers echoed Eccy’s recommendation. One remarked: “One of the best films and most people know about this. I have seen it 10 times and never get bored with it.”
Another commented: “Watching this tonight love de Niro and Connery.” Whilst a third contributed: “Love Blow Out and Scarface so definitely watching this now it’s on Netflix.”
The Untouchables is currently available for streaming on Netflix, as well as on Prime Video and Paramount+.
