TEHRAN- Reports indicate that following the escalation of consequences stemming from the outbreak of war in the West Asia, Iraq’s oil production has dropped by 70%, Mehr News Agency reported on Monday.

The report said that Iraq’s oil production in the past few days has fallen by 70% compared to before the start of the war between Iran and the United States and the Israeli regime.

Accordingly, Iraq’s current oil production has decreased from 4.3 million barrels per day before the war to 1.3 million barrels per day.

The main reason for the oil production drop in this western neighbor is the severe reduction in tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and the lack of sufficient capacity for oil storage in the country’s depots.

On the other hand, the closure of some Iraqi oil facilities managed by American companies, due to fears of retaliatory actions by Iran, has compounded the reasons for the production decrease in this neighboring country.
