New restaurants and bars would form part of a vast new waterfront development planned for Brisbane’s bayside, under a $25 million proposal from the Carina Leagues Club.

Plans for the development next to Greene Park at 18 Fox Street in Wynnum were lodged with Brisbane City Council this week.

The pavilion would include a cafe and fish and chips takeaway, a 300-seat restaurant with private dining rooms, a rooftop bar, function spaces and a sports bar lounge.

A children’s play area with a slide on the adjacent public grassland is also included in design renders.

Dining areas would have all-glass walls and look directly out over Wynnum Creek and Moreton Bay.

Dubbed the “Bayside Pavilion”, the venue is scheduled to open in 2028. Construction would likely start in 2027.

“Our vision is to deliver a community-first venue that elevates the waterfront,” chief executive Adam Wiencke said in a statement.

Prices have surged in Wynnum since the pandemic, and the once-sleepy village has become increasingly affluent.

Artist impressions of the Bayside Pavilion car park show patrons driving cars worth more than half-a-million dollars.

Under a proposal attracting fierce backlash from some residents, new 15-storey apartment towers could soon be allowed near the main Wynnum shopping strip to significantly boost population density in the area.

Brisbane City Council says this would boost local business, provide convenient public transport options to more people and increase supply to temper runaway housing prices.
