Love is in the air at this year’s Winter Olympics, but it seems breakups are, too.
Rumors have surfaced ahead of Thursday’s gold medal women’s hockey game between the U.S. and Canada that American Caroline Harvey and Toronto native Daryl Watts have split up.
The breakup buzz originated on social media earlier this week, with The Sporting News reporting that Harvey’s teammate, Laila Edwards, referred to the defender as single in a TikTok remark.
The outlet added how other comments suggested Harvey, 23, had scrubbed all of her photos featuring Watts.
A 2022 Olympic silver medalist in Beijing, Harvey is leading the Milano Cortina Games in scoring. Through six games, she’s scored two goals and logged seven assists for nine points.
The American squad, captained by the newly engaged Hilary Knight, enters Thursday’s game against Canada undefeated. The States have steamrolled their opponents throughout the tournament, including Monday’s 5-0 domination over Sweden in the semifinals.

“There is definitely some pressure, of course, because we care and we want to keep that standard alive and be playing great USA hockey,” Harvey said, according to USA Today.
“But it’s more enjoyable than anything because it’s just so exciting … You’re playing with the best of the best.”
2026 WINTER OLYMPICS
With the top of the podium up for grabs, it remains to be seen if Harvey or Watts will go home with the gold.
A 26-year-old forward on the PWHL’s Toronto Sceptres, Watts is making her debut in this year’s Winter Games.
She has notched two goals and six assists for eight points in the tournament.
The United States shut out Canada in last week’s preliminary round, 5-0.
