Only Fools & Horses fans have been left fuming after Uncle Albert star Buster Merryfield’s grave was vandalised by “little s****”, in the sitcom actor’s hometown of Dorset.
The horrific act of vandalism has left fans of the show, which ran from 1981 to 2003, “devastated”, with many baffled as to why someone would deface the beloved actor’s grave.
Merryfield played comical war veteran Uncle Albert alongside David Jason’s Del Boy and his brother Rodney, who was portrayed by Nicholas Lyndhurst. He died in 1999, aged 78, and was buried alongside his late wife Iris, who died three years later in 2002.

As reported by the Sun, a source said of Only Fools & Horses fans: “They’re devastated about what’s happened to Buster’s grave. He’s so well loved, nobody can quite comprehend who would do such a thing. It’s even been joked the Germans wouldn’t have touched it, given the only ships Uncle Albert sunk were his own!”
The paper reports that an online crowdfunding has been created by The Only Fools and Horses Appreciation Society. Fans have left comments condemning the vandalism.
One follower said: “There are some strange people in the world who need to get a life.” Another wrote: “Love to get my hands on the little s***s who did this.”
Meanwhile, two of the stars of the classic BBC sitcom are working on a new project. Gwyneth Strong, 66, played Cassandra on the hit BBC sitcom and she ended up married to Rodney Trotter (Nicholas Lyndhurst).
And now, 23 years after the last episode of the sitcom aired, Gwyneth has teamed up with Tessa Peake-Jones, who played the common-law wife of David Jason’s character Del Boy.
Explainig that she and Tessa are still “very good friends” all these years later, she explained: “We’re really close. At the moment, I’m writing a television proposal for her and me, so I’ll wake up refreshed from my nap and work on that.
Speaking to the Telegraph, she said: “I can’t say much about it yet, but the show has elements of experiences Tessa and I have had throughout our very long friendship.” Tessa recently reunited with co-stars like Gwyneth Strong and Sue Holderness for the U&Gold documentary Only Fools and Horses: The Lost Archive.
Speaking to stand-in host Christine Lampard on ITV’s Lorraine, Tessa said: “They found unseen footage in a drawer at the BBC and they’ve put together two or three episodes. Cut scenes, some of it are scenes were things went wrong. They put it all together and got us to watch the various scenes. It was very odd though, and David Jason was very, very poignant about it all.
“There was one bit he watched and he said ‘Oh we were so young and successful back then,’ so it was quite depressing. But I know what he meant, seeing yourself decades ago, it was peculiar.”
“Some of it, we didn’t remember because it was cut and David said it was cut because it wasn’t funny. Some of it was quite long scenes that were sad or moving and I think in the general run of the whole thing when editing, they thought it just wasn’t funny enough so it got cut. But people are going to see it now!”#
