Osaka City And USJ Strengthen Ties To Boost Tourism

OSAKA, Feb 13 (News On Japan) –
Osaka City signed an agreement with Universal Studios Japan on February 12th to strengthen cooperation in areas such as tourism promotion and sports development, aiming to further energize the local economy and enhance the city’s appeal.

At the signing ceremony held at Osaka City Hall, Mayor Hideyuki Yokoyama and USJ President Takashi Murayama attended and confirmed plans to deepen collaboration across four fields, including tourism promotion, sports development, and education, in an effort to boost Osaka’s attractiveness.

Starting in March, manhole covers featuring popular USJ characters and tourist landmarks such as Osaka Castle will be installed at 25 locations across the city.

In addition, characters from the theme park are scheduled to take part in the Osaka Marathon on February 22nd, an event organized by the city and related bodies, with plans for them to run along the course.

Osaka City and USJ said they aim to expand the momentum in tourism and the broader economy even after the conclusion of the World Expo.
