Pop paedophile Gary Glitter is ‘deeply troubled’ and ‘on his last legs’ while fellow prisoners and jail staff have supposedly shared their verdict on the criminal singer, a source has claimed
Notorious music paedophile Gary Glitter is reportedly “on his last legs” as inmates believe the sick criminal could die soon.
The 81-year-old’s health is reportedly declining in prison and is said to be nearly completely deaf, in a wheelchair and refusing to leave his cell. The pop sex offender, who is behind bars at HMP Channings Wood in Devon, was recalled to prison in March 2023 after breaching his licence conditions.
The singer, whose real name is Paul Gadd, had been jailed in 2015 for having sex with a girl under 13, attempted rape and four counts of indecent assault but was released a month before he was recalled.
The notorious paedophile is “on his last legs, with his body giving up”, a source claimed to The Sun. This source said: “He is deaf and can barely move — and most people would struggle to recognise him now. He seems to be on his last legs, with his body giving up.”
Glitter was refused parole last year after a panel said the criminal continued to show “lack of victim empathy”. Despite this, the insider claimed fellow lags and prison staff think the paedophile could die behind bars.
The source added: “And if he doesn’t get parole soon most officers and inmates think he will see out his days in jail.” They added: “Glitter’s case was also back in court recently and that has weighed on him and is adding to his woes. He is deeply troubled by what is going on.”
This person also reportedly claimed the paedo pop star is seen as “arrogant” to fellow inmates and is mostly unliked in the prison.
Glitter’s appeal for release was referred to the Parole Board by the Secretary of State for Justice, as required by law, in 2025. The board rejected the appeal due to his continuing and “uncontrolled interest in children”.
A summary of the appeal said the musician accepted he should not be released from prison. It added that the ex-pop star holds “attitudes that supported the sexual abuse of children”.
The board, in a statement after that rejection, said: “In the panel’s assessment, Mr Gadd continues to display an uncontrolled interest in pre-pubescent children. It noted that he had accepted that he should not be released at this time and would need to engage with offence focussed work in prison. After considering the full details of the case, the panel was not satisfied that release at this point would be safe for the protection of the public.”
The parole board had also rejected his bid for freedom in 2024, ruling he was still a danger to kids. A psychological assessment that year found the vile criminal “continued to evidence a sexual interest in young females and held attitudes that supported the sexual abuse of children”.
