Keion White and Kyle Dugger are on the move.

White, a defensive end, was traded to the 49ers in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

The 49ers will also receive a 2026 seventh-round selection as part of the deal, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported

In a separate trade shortly after the White news emerged, the Patriots reportedly sent safety Kyle Dugger and a seventh-round pick to the Steelers for a sixth-round pick.

The moves come as a bit of a surprise as the 6-2 Patriots lead the AFC East, thanks to the ascension of quarterback Drake Maye. They also follow a three-year extension worth $36 million for safety Marcus Jones, per multiple reports, earlier in the day.

White, 26, has appeared in five games this season and has recorded six tackles.

The second-round pick in the 2023 draft by the Patriots has six total sacks in his three years in the NFL.

The writing had started to appear over the weekend — as the Patriots defeated the Browns 32-13 — when White was a healthy scratch for the first time in his career.

White had entered training camp for the Pats as a potential starter, but was beat out by offseason addition K’Lavon Chaisson.

Dugger, who has been with the Patriots for six years, has appeared in all seven games this year and started in four, recording 17 tackles. He ranks 62nd out of 88 in strong safeties this season, according to Pro Football Focus’ grading system.

The trades come a week before the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 4. White heads to a 5-3 Niners team badly in need of an edge rusher.

The 49ers have been without the injured Nick Bosa since he went down with an ACL tear during Week 3.

Dugger could help bolster a Steelers secondary that will be without DeShon Elliott after he suffered a knee injury on Sunday against the Packers.
