Former model Penny Lancaster has been with Sir Rod Stewart for over a quarter of a century and admits that she still finds the legendary singer ‘sexy’
Penny Lancaster has revealed that she and Sir Rod Stewart “lay it on thick” as she discussed their intimate life. The former model first encountered the Maggie May legend in 1999 whilst photographing him during a tour.
After spending the past 25 years together, Penny insists the pair remain in their “honeymoon” phase. Speaking to The Sun, she declared that their bond “gets better as time goes on”.
Penny, who became Rod’s third wife in 2011, maintains their marriage has grown “more spiritual and intimate” over the years. She explained: “Rod and I are very, very romantic. We like dressing up for each other – Rod takes great care with his appearance which I think is very sexy.”
The 55-year-old also finds it attractive that Rod “doesn’t have a lazy bone in his body”. She additionally values that the legendary performer “doesn’t take himself too seriously”.
Regarding the key to their enduring romance, Penny reveals the duo enjoy “spoil each other”. She points to their most recent wedding anniversary, when they retraced their original wedding day journey, reports the Express.
The couple embarked on a train journey from Paris in France to Portofino in Italy. Rod, 81, proposed to Penny in Paris before they exchanged vows in Portofino during an intimate ceremony aboard a yacht, followed by a reception at a monastery.
Penny shares that they “love reminiscing” about their shared memories whilst also planning future “romantic trips”. She added: “We lay it on thick. The more romantic it is, the better.
“We have such a great connection on every level – there’s such an energy between us.”
The father-of-eight has previously spoken candidly about their displays of affection towards one another. He revealed they maintain an active intimate life and make a point of sharing a goodnight kiss whenever they’re together.
He’s also lauded Penny, with whom he shares sons Alastair and Aiden, describing her as a “great mum”. The rock legend values that Penny “doesn’t take any nonsense” from him.
Penny has previously disclosed how she issued the reformed ladies’ man a significant ultimatum early in their romance. This followed photographs emerging of him with model Caprice Bourret after they’d been on several dates.
Penny recalls telling Rod: “If you want to date all these women go ahead, but just so we’re clear it’s not for me.” After establishing further boundaries, Rod responded: “Okay, lets give it go.”
He then declared: “But don’t think that you’re going to be the next Mrs Stewart. I don’t want to get married and I don’t want anymore babies.”
However, Penny informed Rod that “some point down the line” she would want to have a child together. She achieved this in 2011 when they welcomed their first son, Alastair, into the world.
The Loose Women panellist is appearing this morning on James Martin’s Saturday Morning from 9.30am on ITV One. She’ll be joined by singer Alfie Boe and chefs Paul Rankin and Shivi Ramoutar.
