Peter Andre has hit back over controversies surrounding “nepo babies”, just days after his daughter Princess revealed that her ITV show has been renewed for two more seasons.
Peter Andre has hit back over the backlash recieved by “nepo babies” and insisted that children with famous parents work just as hard to get their own spotlight, after his daughter Princess, 18, revealed her ITV reality show has been renewed for two more seasons.
Writing in his weekly New! Magazine column, Peter adressed the “nepo baby” accusations by talking about Apple Martin, who recently spoke out about growing up with parents in the spotlight.
“Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter Apple has had to deal with accusations that she’s a “nepo baby” and I can understand her frustration.
“At the end of the day, whether it’s a family of actors, dentists, accountants, teachers, anything, chances are one of the kids in the family will want to follow in their parents’ footsteps because they’ve been around it all their lives,” wrote dad-of-five Peter.

He continued: “I don’t know why we single out young people in the entertainment industry for criticism. Like I’ve always said, even if someone has an opportunity offered to them, they have to work hard and be talented to succeed long term.”
A “nepo baby” is a term used to describe someone whose success is percieved to be due to their parents being in the same field; as opposed to their own hard work.
Peter’s daughter Princess, whom he shares with ex-wife and former glamour model Katie Price, has decided to follow in her parents’ footsteps with a career in showbiz. Her TV show, The Princess Diaries, first aired on ITV earlier this year, and she shared this week that it would be returning.
“I’m so excited to tell you what I’m about to tell you. I want to thank everyone who gave me so much love for season one of The Princess Diaries,” began Princess.
She continued: “I’m here to announce that I have not only one, but two more series of The Princess Diaries coming out in 2026. I honestly can’t wait, I’m so excited. Loads of people have been asking me but I’ve not been able to tell you but now you finally know. See you in 2026.”
Meanwhile, Peter’s eldest son, Junior, is also an aspiring musician, just like his dad. However, Junior is clear to set himself apart from his old man, and said earlier this year that he is making his own way through life.
When asked if he takes advice from his dad, Junior told OK! Magazine: “I mean, I’m my own man, aren’t I? So I learn from myself and that’s the way everyone does it. It’s the same way my parents did it, just life experience. You live and you learn.”
