Peter Andre’s surprising £45 anti-ageing beauty hack that makes wife call him ‘bonkers’

Need to soften fine lines on your face fast? Unlikely beauty influencer Peter Ande has a trick for that…

We’re used to getting some great skincare tips from celebrities, but what we weren’t expecting this week was to get a handy anti-ageing hack from Peter Andre.

The singer, 53, just revealed her turns to hydrogel eye patches to prep his skin before going on camera, all in a bid to “soften” fine lines and skin texture. The exact product he uses is Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Hydra-Gel Eye Patches – so not just any old product, other – an expert-approved one.

Writing on Instagram, Peter says: “Right, Emily’s been laughing at me, but I just said that I know these take the puffiness out of the [under] eyes, because we have an interview today. But I’ll put it up here as well, so it softens the skin. Am I the only one who does this? She thinks I’m bonkers. I am.”

Peter’s hack may not be the most budget-friendly one, considering how many under-eye patches he has to use to give near-full upper face coverage (six, to be exact), but he is onto something when he says they help prep his skin. Since these Peter Thomas Roth patches, on sale for £45 for 30 pairs, are infused with hyaluronic acid, ceramides and collagen, they will make under-eyes (and, err, foreheads) look more plump and hydrated quite fast.

However, Peter would have been better off using the brand’s dedicated Water Drench Hyaluronic Gel Face Mask, which costs £61 but has the same hydrating and plumping ingredients, blended into a gel made for full-face application. Plus, a pot will last you through many more applications than using six patches at once will.

Peter isn’t the only celeb turning to eye patches before a big day of filming. Last year, the Married at First Sight UK cast all went viral after many were filmed for the show wearing various versions of hydrogel patches. Bride Leah, in particular, was rarely seen without them for morning filming.

One user on the Holy Church of MAFS Facebook group penned in the comment section of a post dedicated to these under-eye patches: “I’m so happy someone else is talking about this because I was wondering what they are!”

Another simply responded with: “Eye slugs,” while a third weighed in with: “I had to ask my daughter what they are– are they a sponsor?!”

We can confirm that the patches that were used by Leah and Davide are Grace & Stella’s gold Under-Eye Masks, £17.95 for 24 pairs on Amazon. Infused with plumping and hydrating hyaluronic acid, these little gold slugs promise to deliver camera-ready under-eyes in 20 minutes by priming the area, reducing puffiness and plumping the look of fine lines.

Explaining further, another Facebook user sheds light on why they’re so visible in this series: “Davide did an Instagram Live saying they get given to them by the production team because their roll calls for the dinner party would start at 6 am.”

Whether Peter is a MAFS fan or has just worked this trick out for himself, we’re certain of one thing: he’s definitely not bonkers– just skincare savvy.
