Hours after reports surfaced on popular news outlets that the Grammy winner had separated from her husband, Carey Hart, after 20 years of marriage, the pop queen took matters into her own hands to set the record straight.

Pink responds to split reports from Carey Hart

On February 26, 2026 (ET), some reports claimed that Pink and Hart had separated for the second time after two decades of marriage, following a brief separation in 2008. A source had allegedly told PEOPLE that the couple was calling it quits for the second time, though no official confirmation was provided. Later, other major outlets like Us Weekly also extensively covered the story, setting off a firestorm online, with fans wondering what could have gone wrong.

Well, it turns out that the outlets were misinformed. Pink herself took to Instagram and posted her amused reaction to the separation reports, taking a subtle jab at the media for not cross-verifying claims before making news bits. Through a short video message, the pop star emphasized that the reports were “not true” and that she and Hart are still very much together. In the video, captioned “If you don’t hear it from me, don’t believe the hype,” Pink can be heard saying:

“So I was just alerted to the fact that I’m separated from my husband. I didn’t know. Thank you, People magazine. Thank you, US Weekly. Thank you for letting me know. I was wondering, would you also like to tell our children? My 14-year-old and 9-year-old are also unaware.”

Pink shut down the rumors, saying that the headlines were fake. The Trustfall singer went on to urge her millions of followers and fans to focus on something more meaningful, citing her recent nomination for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, instead of what she called her “supposed demise.” The singer continued:

“Do you maybe want to talk about the fact that I got nominated the first year I was eligible for the Rock & Roll F—-ng Hall of Fame? Do you want to talk about my accomplishments, or do you only want to talk about my supposed demise?”

Inside Pink and Carey Hart’s tumultuous 20-year marriage

While the recent reports turned out to be fake, Pink and Hart’s marriage has been anything but picture-perfect, and they have never even pretended it was. The singer first met Hart, a professional motocross racer, in 2001 at the Summer X Games. After dating for some years, Pink proposed to Hart in 2005, famously holding up a pit board that read “Will U Marry Me?” during one of his races. The next year, they married in Costa Rica.

However, things went awry after their marriage, and in 2008, the couple briefly separated. They sought counselling and eventually reconciled in 2009. Over the years, Pink has candidly discussed doing both individual and couples therapy, emphasizing that long-term relationships require work. Speaking about sticking together through difficult times, the singer told PEOPLE in 2023:

“He and I are independent to a fault. That’s probably why we’ve stayed together so long, because we can live completely separately and then be together. We don’t need each other. We choose each other.”
