ADILABAD: Several BRS leaders who joined Congress after it formed the government in Telangana are said to be unhappy and want to return. Pillalamarri Srinivas Bharatiya Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leadership is focusing on strengthening the party in erstwhile Adilabad district by inducting leaders from rival parties and welcoming professionals aspiring to enter politics. They are expected to join the BRS in the presence of party working president K.T. Rama Rao at the Rythu Garjana meeting in Adilabad town on November 1. Political leaders
unhappy in other parties are among those expected to join the opposition party ahead of the assembly general elections. An industrialist from Bhainsa is reportedly interested in joining the BRS and is in touch with the party leadership. Likewise, a doctor from Nirmal town wants to enter politics by joining the party. Incidentally, BRS lacks strong leadership in Nirmal district.
Party leadership has been unable to retain several leaders who subsequently joined the Congress after BRS lost power in the last assembly elections. Senior leader K. Srihari Rao, former minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy, and former MLA Vittal Reddy have gone on to join the Congress.
However, several are said to be unhappy after their shift. Former Adilabad DCC president Bhargav Deshpande has announced his resignation from the Congress. He is set to join BRS at the Rythu Garjana along with some sarpanches, Youth Congress leaders, and senior Congress leaders.
Political circles say leaders moving to opposition BRS are hoping to get assembly tickets during the next assembly elections. Former minister and BRS Adilabad district president Jogu Ramanna said the party would welcome anyone willing to join it to strengthen its presence in the district. He said the leadership is focusing on expanding the party from the grassroots level to prepare for the next elections.
