Selections based on a good track.
Race 1
1. Poisonous made his debut on the Kensington track last June and tailed the field home after leading. He was immediately spelled after that performance in which he pulled up lame. He was given a good break before returning with two strong trial wins at Warwick Farm and Randwick leading into this resuming run. He looks set to return in winning style. 4. Defiance has been placed in one of three starts and resumes from a spell here after also scoring two wins. He bears close watching. 7. Bold Bucks is a two-year-old taking on the older horses and has had a number of trials to be readied for this including a fourth in the latest of them at Rosehill. 2. Rockin’ Red is a first starter that has had three trials in total and finished a close-up fourth in the most recent at Hawkesbury when returning from a break.
How to play it: Poisonous WIN.

Race 2
5. Vatican has only had one start for a fifth in the Inglis Nursery at Randwick back in December. He returns from a break here on the back of two good trials and is poised to break through with a victory. 2. Fawlty Affairs looked good at Muswellbrook on debut when hitting the line well to finish second in a handy line-up. 3. Lafite is a stablemate of Vatican on debut after four trials in total and looks primed to run a bold race. 4. Satoshi is a well-bred colt on debut and has had two strong trials in preparation.
How to play it: Vatican WIN.
Race 3
3. Riga started favourite at this track last Saturday only to blunder badly on jumping and dislodge its rider. He was placed in his first two runs since resuming and has top claims of breaking through here if he can run up to those efforts. 4. Stability debuts on the back of three trials including a second at Wyong. He can be thereabouts on the strength of that. 5. Wishful Thinker ran third at Kembla Grange when resuming from a break and has solid claims again. 2. Mako ran last at Newcastle on debut in November and has had two trials leading into this.
How to play it: Riga WIN.
Race 4
3. Barrengarry hit the line well to score a maiden win at Newcastle at his third start, and he looks set to go right on with the job. 5. Serpico charged home to score at Wyong when fresh and the step-up in distance should suit here. 7. Emerald Hills broke through to win at her second start at Newcastle and has claims again. 6. Cha Cha Cha can race on the speed and give cheek.
How to play it: Barrenggarry WIN.
Race 5
3. Just Response is first-up from a spell after winning a Wyong trial. He’s had four trials for a win and three placings, and the maiden victory was at this track in November. 1. Lightning Glory was a Wyong winner on debut and then ran fifth at Randwick and third at Wyong before being spelled. He resumes here after a second in a trial. 2. Bondasong followed a debut success with a sixth at Kembla Grange and is fresh for this after a second in a Wyong trial. 6. Blue Suede Hooves broke through to score a last start maiden win at Hawkesbury and has another four placings to his name from 11 starts.
How to play it: Just Response WIN.
Race 6
8. Confidentiality ran third on debut at Hawkesbury in December before winning in a small field at Wyong and then being spelled. She’s had a trial leading into this return to racing and finished second behind Flying For Fun at Warwick Farm and that was a solid pointer to her chances in this. 10. Real Baker was produced for a debut effort at Orange in October and he did the job to score there as favourite. He resumes here in a tougher event but shouldn’t be underestimated. 3. Honey Perfume has only missed a place once from 12 starts and she hit the line well for a resuming second at Hawkesbury. 2. Button Up was well in the market when debuting with a Kembla Grange win and he can go on with the job.
How to play it: Confidentiality EACH WAY.
Race 7
4. Just Awesome was a debut winner at this track before running sixth in good company at Rosehill. He was spelled after that and has had three runs since resuming and followed two solid efforts with a last start Kembla Grange victory. He looks to have upside and can go on with the job. 2. Against The Law won at Hawkesbury last July and then ran second at Canterbury before a couple of unplaced Midway runs and then being spelled. He’s had two trials to prepare for this. 6. Zocketman was each of his first two starts at Muswellbrook and on the Beaumont track at Newcastle and then ran last of seven at Rosehill before being spelled. He resumes after two trials. 7. Are Ee Que has a sound overall record and hasn’t been too far away in three runs since resuming.
How to play it: Just Awesome WIN.
Best Bets: Race 1 (1) Poisonous.
Race 5 (3) Just Response.
Best Value: Race 6 (8) Confidentiality.
