Selections based on a soft track.

Race 1

7. Sea Strike is a handy galloper that has four wins from 15 starts. He ran seventh at Wangaratta last time out but was a winner at Kyneton before that and a repeat of that performance would have him hard to hold out in this. 6. Gatchan ran second at Canberra two starts ago before tackling the Canberra Cup last time out. This is easier. 9. Southern Dancer has a solid record and wasn’t far away in the Albury Mile when last produced. 3. Cosmic Lad has had three runs back from a spell and is poised to run well here.

How to play it: Sea Strike WIN.

Race 2

11. Pure Melody has had five starts and has been placed in four of them. She was placed behind Your Chilli at Canberra at her latest start and only needs to run up to that performance to be the one to beat against these. 10. Tassy Fox has been racing well with placings at Albury and Wagga at her past two starts. She is racing well enough to give this a shake. 3. Reef Road has been placed in eight of 15 starts including two recent thirds at this track. Another forward showing is on the cards. 5. Beached As Bro was disappointing here last time out but can improve.

How to play it: Pure Melody WIN.

Race 3

8. Miss Hard Copy is a filly on debut and comes into this on the back of one barrier trial in which she finished third at Corowa. She did enough in that trial to suggest she can run well. 10. Kiwi Harmony has finished sixth in each of her latest two starts here and at Albury and wasn’t beaten too far in either of them. She can be thereabouts without surprising. 5. Brucey started favourite when debuting with a fourth at the Sapphire Coast. He looks talented and can make an impact. 4. Zamalek debuted with a third at Moruya in September and resumes here after two solid recent trials.

How to play it: Miss Hard Copy EACH WAY.

Race 4

11. Sweet Farnan raced on the speed and was just behind the placings in her latest start at Moe. She’s finished second in three of 10 starts and gets another chance to break through here. 14. Yamashita was down the track on debut at Newcastle and resumes here on the back of a trial win at Kembla Graneg. She bears close watching. 4. Pierata Star is on debut after one trial at Albury and can show up without surprising. 10. Sunset Royale is yet to be placed from three starts and is having her first start for a new stable in this.

How to play it: Sweet Farnan WIN.

4. Kranich hit the line well enough when a last start third in good company at Dubbo and his form before that was sound enough for him to be rated the one to hold out in this company. 5. Arthur The Great was down the track at Goulburn when last produced but is talented at best and can bounce back to form here. 7. The Shaper is a last start fourth placegetter at Caulfield and will find this an easier assignment. 9. Toompine was a last-start third at Corowa and can get into the minor money again with a repeat.

How to play it: Kranich WIN.

Race 6

3. Judith’s Revenge put two wins together at this track in January in good style and since then finished second here behind Iowna Benz. She only needs to maintain that form to be hard to hold out again. 6. Go Commando was a debut winner at Albury before running third at Orange in November. He resumed with a sixth at Goulburn but can improve here. 7. Tjaka was midfield at Goulburn when last produced and wasn’t beaten far. She looks set to run well. 1. Bosco is a last start Cowra winner that should be prominent with a repeat of that.

How to play it: Judith’s Revenge WIN.

Race 7

1. Moonlight Dream raced on the speed at this track last time out and scored a strong win. She should push forward again in this event and can take plenty of beating again while fresh. 2. Maritime Express followed a couple of seconds at Gundagai and Goulburn with a last start fifth at Goulburn. This looks suitable. 4. Narmer was having his third start when a last start winner at Dubbo and looks hard to hold out based on that effort. 12. Group Chat disappointed last time out but can lift on that and be a factor here.

How to play it: Moonlight Dream WIN.

Race 8

1. Hulm is a talented galloper with five wins and two seconds from 18 starts. He is a Wagga trial winner leading into this and took on tougher company before the break. 9. Dolly wasn’t beaten far in a recent run at this track and should be prominent again. 11. Bolo Miss scored a strong last start win at Dubbo and can go on with the job here. 5. Ditterich has a solid record and was placed at this track when last produced.

How to play it: Hulm EACH WAY.

Best Bets: Race 2 (11) Pure Melody.
Race 5 (4) Kranich.

Best Value: Race 8 (1) Hulm.
