Selections based on a good track.
Race 1
4. Shawnee Boy has only had two starts for a debut fifth at Canterbury behind Willingham and then an eighth at this track earlier this month behind Providence. He was beaten less than five lengths in each of those starts and looks suited by the step-up in distance for this event. 8. So D’oro resumed from a spell with a fifth in the same race Shawnee Boy contested at Wyong and should be improved by that hit-out. 5. Valentiago ran well when a last-start second at Goulburn when hitting the line well. A repeat of that would have him figuring prominently here. 1. Ausbred Eclipse had his first start in a race when fourth of six at Kembla Grange and looks to have upside.
How to play it: Shawnee Boy WIN.

Race 2
8. Listen Sweetheart is a well-bred filly that broke her maiden in solid style at Canberra when last produced. That was her fifth start in a race, and she appears to have the ability to work through the grades. 4. Sir Tua was a maiden winner at Nowra at the end of December and has since finished third at Wyong and seventh at Canberra. He can bounce back here. 2. Walk Like A Man won well at Kembla Grange two starts ago and then was down the track at Newcastle. Expect improvement here. 1. Ngunnawal ran a solid third at Newcastle last time out and has strong place claims again.
How to play it: Listen Sweetheart WIN.
Race 3
3. Serpico wasn’t beaten too far in his three most recent runs at the end of last year. He was midfield at Hawkesbury in the latest start and has had a trial leading into this. 2. Dunquin debuted with a solid third at Port Macquarie in a handy field and warrants plenty of thought here. 8. Saytara was placed at Warwick Farm before disappointing at Canterbury but will find this easier. 9. Vision In A Dream was midfield at Gosford on debut and can lift on that.
How to play it: Serpico EACH WAY.
Race 4
3. Harlex has only won one race from eight starts but has four seconds to his name. He resumes here after two trials, and a bold fresh showing is on the cards. 2. Pratt has been placed in each of his two latest starts at Port Macquarie and should be thereabouts again. 1. Florino was down on form at the end of last campaign but has trialled well leading into this resuming run. 7. Clifton Springs is talented at best and can get into the placings.
How to play it: Harlex WIN.
Race 5
3. Fleet Flyer is on debut after a number of trials and is poised to show up having finished fourth in the most recent two at Randwick and Canterbury. 4. No Verdict has been safely held in two starts but can improve in this. 6. Western Lane failed as favourite when resuming at Goulburn but should improve as well. 2. Titan Of Fury is resuming and is capable of showing up.
How to play it: Fleet Flyer EACH WAY.
Race 6
8. Populism is a daughter of Yes Yes Yes that is on debut after four trials in total and has the advantage of barrier one. She ran third in a Wyong trial last month before finishing second in the latest of them on the Beaumont track at Newcastle on February 12. 10. Axhro is also on debut after a number of trials and can show up after his latest second at Rosehill. 3. Propane has had a number of trials including two recently and bears close watching after a third on the Beaumont track in the latest. 4. Senza Rivali is another first starter that has been well prepared with four trials including two recent placings.
How to play it: Populism WIN.
Race 7
3. Ausbred Hed’n’tail had trialled well before making his debut with a dominant win as favourite at Gosford. He was scratched on Tuesday to be saved for this and looks set to win again. 1. Dusty Bay has been racing well and ran sixth behind Tempted at Randwick in the Eskimo Prince last time out. This is much easier. 2. Classic Pocket was a winner here three starts ago and can show up again. 7. Oui Flourish has a win and a third from three starts and is on an upward spiral.
How to play it: Ausbred Hed’n’tail WIN.
Race 8
10. She’s Assort ran second on debut at Hawkesbury in September and was then sent for a spell. She had two Warwick Farm trials and won each of them before resuming with a win at Kembla Grange as favourite. She has the talent to go on with the job here. 8. Dear Jewel finished second at Warwick Farm behind a handy galloper before being spelled and has had two quiet trials in preparation for this return to racing. 3. Are Ee Que has a good record and ran well when a last-start third at Gosford. 2. Don’t Doubt Merlin was close-up when second at Newcastle when resuming and warrants thought here.
How to play it: She’s Assort WIN.
Best Bets: Race 2 (8) Listen Sweetheart.
Race 7 (3) Ausbred Hed’N’Tail.
Best Value: Race 3 (3) Serpico.
