Ram Kapoor Admits Being An Absent Father, While Wife, Gautami Took Care Of Kids, ‘For 10 Years…’

Ram Kapoor and his wife, Gautami Kapoor, are considered the iconic jodi in the Hindi TV industry. Their love story began on the sets of Ghar Ek Mandir in 2000. The couple has been married for more than two decades. Ram and Gautami are parents to two children, a daughter, Sia and a son, Aks. In a recent interview, the duo took a trip down memory lane and opened up about parenthood and more.

In a recent chat with Nayandeep Rakshit, Ram Kapoor and his wife, Gautami, recounted the time when they were expecting their first child. Gautami shared that they had not planned for the baby, and when she first found out that she was pregnant, she was shocked. However, Ram had a different feeling. He shared, “Everything new scares her. But I was thrilled.” Gautami recalled the time and said:

“We were not planning for a baby. Sia was unplanned. I was shocked. I was like, are we going to have a baby? What are we going to do? He was like, ‘You leave it to me.’ I was like, ‘What do I leave to you?'”

During the same conversation, Gautami Kapoor revealed that her husband, Ram Kapoor, was not present during her pregnancy. She shared that when she was pregnant with their first child, Sia. She mentioned that her pregnancy announcement changed her husband’s fate. Speaking about the following, Ram added that Sia was his lucky charm. He shared that the TV show on which he was working when Sia was born became number one. Ram said, “Sia brought me all my luck.” Hearing this, Gautami added that she took care of herself at the time. She was quoted as saying:

“Ram wasn’t there. When I was pregnant with Sia, Ram had his biggest career surge. It was like lakshmi had arrived. My pregnancy announcement changed Ram’s fate forever. I took care of myself. Nobody took care of me.”

During the same conversation, Ram admitted that he was an absent father. He shared that it was his wife, Gautami, who took care of their children and the household. Ram highlighted that he didn’t have to worry for a single day. Ram mentioned that due to his hectic work schedule, he got little time to spend with his family. He added that his children didn’t know him for 10 years. He was quoted as saying:

“She took over the children and the house so amazingly that I didn’t have to worry about it for a single day. That’s why I could focus on my career for 15 long years and become what I have become. She is Mother India. I would go on a shoot on Sunday and come back on Wednesday. I slept in my vanity van, brushed in my van, and worked like crazy. That’s why I was absent. My children didn’t really know me for 10 years. I was an absent father for 10 years.”

Further, during the conversation, Gautami talked about the struggles of motherhood. She shared that for a woman, it is difficult to start all over again after raising a baby and return to normal life. She mentioned that for her, it was very tough as she had to tackle both her kids single-handedly. She added that the situation was nothing less than hell.
