While the fans were gushing over the wedding pictures of Rashmika and Vijay, the makers of Ranabaali have dropped a surprise for them. For the unversed, Rashmika Mandanna tied the knot with her longtime partner, Vijay Deverakonda, on February 26, 2026, in Udaipur. Amid the buzz surrounding the couple’s first look from the period drama, let’s find out who bagged the highest pay cheque between them.

Who earned more, Rashmika Mandanna or Vijay Deverakonda, for their role in the period drama, Ranabaali?

For the uninitiated, Vijay Deverakonda plays the role of ‘Ranabaali’, and Rashmika Mandanna portrays the role of his wife, ‘Jayamma’, in the period drama, Ranabaali. It is noteworthy to mention that Ranabaali will be the couple’s first film after their marriage. They were last seen together in the film, Dear Comrade. According to a movie critic’s Insta page, Vijay Deverakonda allegedly took home Rs. 50 crore, and Rashmika Mandanna reportedly earned Rs. 20 crore in the film, Ranabaali. If the report is believed to be true, then the Kingdom actor bagged the highest pay cheque for his role in the period drama.

Alongside Vijay and Rashmika, the historical film also stars, Arnold Vosloo. He has stepped in as the antagonist, ‘Sir Theodore Hector’. The actor is best known for his villainous roles in films like The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. According to the same Insta page, Arnold Vosloo reportedly took home Rs. 5 crore.

What to expect in the film, Ranabaali?

The upcoming film of Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna will focus on the harsh rule of the British in India. It will showcase how some areas were turned into drought areas by British officers, including Sir Richard Temple, causing distress to common people. The real-life struggles that include hunger, pain and fear will be the primary element of the film. The historical film also features a beautiful love story between ‘Ranabaali’ and ‘Jayamma’.

Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the film, Ranabaali is inspired by real events that took place between 1854 and 1878. Reportedly, the story of Vijay and Rashmika starrer is inspired by the history of Rayalaseema, a southern part of Andhra Pradesh, India. However, when the makers released the first glimpse, a movie critic and founder of a Telugu film website claimed that it was made with the help of AI. He tweeted:

“#Ranabaali glimpse is sensational. Largely created using AI, it highlights key aspects of the pre-Independence era, exposing how the British plundered India’s wealth and carried out genocide. The film revolves around a lone individual who dared to stand up against them in the Madras Presidency. Director Rahul Sankrithyan has always been known for strong and compelling story ideas. With Vijay Deverakonda, Arnold Vosloo (of The Mummy fame) and Rashmika Mandanna leading the cast, backed by an excellent technical team, this film is poised to create wonders.”

In response, director, Rahul put the rumours to rest. He shared a note on his X handle (formerly Twitter) and mentioned that the first glimpse was not AI-generated. He highlighted that every frame was worked following older ways and they invested several months over it. He wrote:

“Thank you, @idlebrainjeevi garu. But AI was not used, every frame was worked in older ways- invested months of time.”

For those unaware, the period drama, Ranabaali is all set to release in theatres on September 11, 2026. Reportedly, the historical film will be released in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu. Earlier, the film was referred to as VD14.
