American musician Snoop Dog, who has a share in football team Swansea FC, has some ambitious plans for the Welsh city as he says ‘I ain’t playing’

Snoop Dogg has a bold plan to make his adopted city of Swansea the ‘Vegas of Wales’ and attract the world’s top music artists to its stadium, and says he’s ‘not playing’.

The U.S. rapper, who has a stake in Swansea City FC, tells the Mirror, “I got a ten year plan to make Swansea the Vegas of Wales. Don’t think I am playing – I got the connections to get the best chefs, I got connections with businessmen who can finance world class hotels and clubs.”

Of the legendary American party city he’s modelling his new-look Swansea on, he explains, “Vegas is my town, I love Vegas – I lost count of how many good nights I have had there.

“They have the best chefs, the best clubs, the best hotels, the best casinos, and of course the biggest artists in the world playing there. There is a reason why people come from all over the world to party in Vegas.

The 54-year old father-of-four says he also has plans to make Swansea’s stadium a cultural hub where all the biggest musical stars perform rather than occasionally skip the city on world tours.

“I am always thinking with my commercial head on. I know when the biggest artists tour globally, when they hit The UK they do London, Manchester, Glasgow, and sometimes Cardiff, that aint the thought to do Swansea.

“All that is about to change, we’ve got a 20,000 seater stadium and I am going to pull some strings to make sure the best artists in the world start performing there.”

Last month, Snoop exclusively spilled to the Mirror that if he ever moved to Europe, it would be to Swansea., home of his favourite football team. “That’s where my team is, and the fans of Swansea are my people. It’s a proper working-class city, and I feel at home there.”

Snoop visited Swansea City FC last month, marking his first head-turning appearance at the stadium since becoming a minority co-owner of the Championship club.

He was seen enjoying the action as his team drew 1-1 against Preston North End and subsequently took part in a pitch-side lap of honour, greeting delighted fans. The club even produced specialized Snoop Dogg-themed towels for fans for the occasion.

Snoop Dogg is not the only Stateside star to be bringing his A-lister glamour to Wales – Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds co-owns Wrexham and on Saturday made his debut as a footballer commentator.

He called it the “most rewarding professional experience of my entire life” and confessed that he and co-owner Rob had spoken to David Beckham on a video call during Wrexham’s match against Chelsea. “We do a lot of FaceTime during the game. So, in fact, during the Chelsea game, David Beckham was FaceTiming with us.”
