Delhi Red Fort blast update: In a significant development a day after the nation was shocked with a car blast near Red Fort, the police has zeroed in on a Pulwama doctor named Dr Umar Nabi. The report has also revealed that he was driving the car that exploded and had links to a terror module busted with the recovery of explosives mainly from Faridabad. Who was Pulwama doctor Dr Umar Nabi?

As per media reports, Dr Umar Nabi is believed to have died in the blast that killed at least 12 people on Monday evening. Consequently, Jammu and Kashmir police took a DNA sample from his mother to establish the connect on Tuesday.

“We have taken the DNA sample in order to match with the parts found at the scene of the blast,” an official said in Srinagar to PTI news agency.

What happened during Red Fort blast?

The Red Fort blast on a busy Monday evening came hours after eight people, including three doctors, were arrested and 2,900 kg of explosives seized with the uncovering of a “white collar” terror module involving the Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind and spanning Kashmir, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

As per the recent update, Dr Muzammil Ganaie and Dr Shaheen Sayeed were among those arrested on Monday were. Notably, both were connected to the Al Falah university in Faridabad, from where 360 kg of ammonium nitrate was recovered. The doctor from Lethpora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district allegedly carried explosives, possibly ammonium nitrate, in the car, they said. Also, readers can note that a suicide attack was not ruled out.
