Top Gear star, Richard Hammond’s daughter, Izzy, was involved in a serious crash this weekend during a high-speed Formula E event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Richard Hammond’s daughter has spoken out following a terrifying crash at the weekend. The 25-year-old was racing in a Formula E event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, when she collided with a bollard on the side of the track just one minute into her lap.

Debris from the crash was seen strewn all over the track, however, thankfully, Izzy was able to walk away from the vehicle and was checked over by the medical staff before telling fans she was “fine”.

She has now given an update on her health, saying she is concussed, but insisted again that she’s “absolutely fine”. Posting on Instagram, she wrote: “Hey guys, I don’t know if you saw, but I crashed the f*** out of the car. Massive apologies to my team [Lola]. They’ve been so amazing, and I return the favour by putting me car into a wall sideways, and destroying it. So that’s not great!”

Explaining her tyres were not hot enough she continued: “How did I do it? I don’t think I had enough heat in my tyres, so I was trying to break and I was trying to turn with no heated tyres so it all went a little bit t*** up and I hit the wall with 24Gs.

“So, my neck hurts a little bit, but I am absolutely fine so thank you everyone that is concerned.”

Revealing that she was also concussed, Izzy said: “I’m fine, this stuff happens, and now I can say I’m a proper racing driver because I’ve had a monumental crash. I’m gonna go to bed now, and sleep off my concussion!”

Speaking to Lola’s social media team after the race, she also admitted the race “didn’t really go to plan in the end”, adding: “I crashed in quite dramatic fashion. And I’m sorry!”

Apologising for ‘ruining their car’, she continued: “I want to officially state on the record that I’m so sorry Lola, I really didn’t mean to ruin your car!

“When I was sat at the wall, I looked to my left, and all I saw was a bit of car on the track – I didn’t even know what part it was!”

Izzy’s dad, Richard, was involved in a near fatal car crash 20 years ago whole filming Top Gear. He suffered brain injuries after crashing a jet-powered dragster at super high speed, and was in a coma for two weeks in news which shocked the nation.

As a result, Izzy said her first concern after her crash was letting the presenter know she was ok as she told reporters: “My first thought when I was sat in that wall was, ‘Oh my god, everyone’s watching, my dad’s watching.
