Loose Women star Ruth Langsford has dropped a hint about her dating plans during a chat with pal Rylan Clark, two years after splitting from ex-husband Eamonn Holmes

Ruth Langsford, 65, has mischievously declared “I’m going younger” after separating from her husband of 14 years, GB News host Eamonn Holmes, 66, back in 2024.

The Loose Women presenter dropped the bombshell while speaking to her close friend Rylan Clark on his BBC Radio 2 show on Saturday, prompting the former X Factor star to brand his pal a “cougar”.

The two got onto the subject after chatting about an awkward moment from Ruth‘s childhood, when she wrongly assumed that her friend’s older brother was in love with her.

The star confessed: “It’s so sad! I think I was about 11 or 12, and my dad was in the army and we were stationed in Malta at the time, and we went home for the summer holidays, and my friend’s brother was taking her to the cinema.

“I realised as I got older that he’d basically been paid by his parents – there were about four of us girls – he’d obviously been paid by his parents like, ‘can you just take them to the cinema?’

“And I, literally, because I was so in love with him and he was tall and blonde and so gorgeous, I actually, in my head as a 12-year-old girl, thought, ‘that’s my boyfriend, he’s taking me to the cinema’, and he literally didn’t know I existed.

“He sat away from us in the cinema, but I remember planning my outfit, I borrowed something of my sister’s without asking her, got into loads of trouble, I wore lipstick and went to the cinema, and he didn’t even sit with us, he sat the other side.

“But in my head… I can’t even remember what the film was, I literally spent the whole time just gazing at him and thinking he obviously loves me.”

After chuckling at Ruth’s story, Rylan exclaimed: “I wonder where he is now,” leading the star to remark: “So, if you’re listening… well he’d be too old for me now, wouldn’t he?”

Upon being questioned about her former crush’s age by Rylan, Ruth shared he would have been about 17 or 18-years-old at the time, to which the surprised presenter replied: “That’s alright!”

However, Ruth said an older man wouldn’t suit her dating interests now, as she vowed: “I’m going younger!”

“Oh go on, you cougar! There’s the headline of the day, Ruth dating a 22-year-old,” Rylan exclaimed in response, with Ruth enthusiastically agreeing: “Go on!”

The dating chat seemed to thrill Rylan, who told his pal: “I can’t wait to take you out on the pull, I cannot wait! I can’t wait for the day – come on, me, you, Lizzie Cundy, having a laugh outside some Mayfair bar!”

However, Ruth seemed slightly hesitant about any plans for a big night out, warning the radio host: “You’ll have to be careful where you’re taking me, because… you know…”

Rylan wasn’t having any of it though, as he joked in response: “I won’t be careful in the slightest! I’ll raffle you off to the highest bidder I’ll be like, ‘who wants her? Someone take her off my hands, please!'”

It comes after Ruth’s ex, Eamonn, has moved on with partner Katie Alexander, who is 22 years his junior.
