Loewe’s viral bag costs over £1,000, so Sainsbury’s is saving shoppers a small fortune

Supermarket style strikes again, and this time it’s coming for a designer bag you’ll be seeing everywhere this spring/summer. Shoppers have spotted a new woven tote at Sainsbury’s that looks very similar to the cult bucket styles from Loewe, but with a price tag that fits more of our budgets.

While Loewe’s coveted leather crossbody bags can set you back £1,090, Sainsbury’s Cutwork Bucket Shoulder Bag comes in at a fraction of the cost at £18, making it much less of a splurge. The supermarket tote features the same structured shape, woven inner texture and summer-ready feel that made the designer original such a hit for holidays. However, unlike Loewe’s version, Sainsbury’s bag isn’t made from durable, high-quality leather, so won’t last you as many seasons without tarnishing.

If you’ve had your eye on a designer bucket bag but couldn’t quite stretch to nearly £1,000, this could be the affordable alternative worth adding to your basket, quite literally, before it goes out of stock. Judging by the reaction to the bargain bag on social media, we predict that won’t be long!

In other supermarket news, following the success of its ‘croissant bag’ last summer, Lidl has just introduced the Lidl x Nik Bentel Trolley Bag; a handbag inspired by the supermarket’s shopping trolleys. It features a detachable chain strap, trolley coin fob and a dust bag, and is designed to look just like the front part of a shopping trolley, complete with wire frame and rounded Lidl-branded handle.

The fun bag is up for grabs now on Nik Bentel’s website , where fans can enter a ballot to be in with a chance of winning on for themselves. You can already sign up to be notified when the ballot opens, and once it’s available you can enter via your email address, although it’s worth noting that not everyone who enters will receive one of the limited edition bags.
