Sam Thompson has revealed the steps he took to get over his break-up with Zara McDermott. The popular pair split up after five years together last Christmas.
And the typically happy TV presenter has confessed to attending therapy after they called it a day. It’s claimed the duo grew apart due to busy individual careers and different life goals. Before their split, they would often been seen at public events, despite previous challenges like her past infidelity.
While the separation was reportedly amicable and a mutual decision after a tough year, Sam has confessed to the struggles he faced as the pair went their separate ways. Speaking alongside his best pal Pete Wicks, Sam admitted he doesn’t talk about his past with Zara “out of politeness”.

He told Mail Online: “I respect that we’ve both kept it that way. But I don’t know one person who enjoys going through a break-up. I needed therapy to help me process that change in my life.
“I worked so hard last year, I neglected friends and family, even myself a bit. One of the big takeaways was to give myself some time, otherwise the danger is you get ill. We like to think we’re superheroes but then we burn out.”
And Sam also opened up on his desire to be a dad in the future. The former Made In Chelsea man, 33, has often been open about his hopes. He added: ” I’d love to have kids and I refuse to date unless I can see a long-term future in it.”
He must see a future with his new partner DJ and model Talitha Balinska. The duo first met in 2023 at a photo shoot before reconnecting earlier this year at one of his arena shows. The pair went official with their romance after Sam confirmed it on his podcast to Pete a few months after they began dating.
Zara meanwhile has moved on with One Direction star Louis Tomlinson. She shared her first photo online with the singer earlier this month.
The former Love Island star was delighted as she celebrated her 29th birthday alongside the One Direction star and couldn’t help but share her happiness.
She beamed as she posed in the snap alongside Louis, 33, wearing a brown beanie hat and brown faux fur coat. Louis also smiled as he leant in to the picture which was taken in a frosty looking outdoor countryside setting.
She shared a sweet caption alongside the upload. In it, Zara enthused about her big day alongside Louis.
She wrote: “The best birthday ever with you & the final year of my 20’s!!” She also added a number of sweet emojis including love hearts, a Christmas tree and logs.
