Shah Rukh Khan’s fans are waiting with bated breath for his upcoming film, King. The title announcement was made on November 2 last year, along with a short teaser featuring SRK’s look from the film. Besides the superstar, the film also stars his daughter Suhana Khan, along with an ensemble cast including Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Arshad Warsi, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhay Verma, Anil Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla, among others.
Recently, Shukla spoke about the film and said that it has 70 percent of the film industry. Speaking to Hindi Rush, he said, “Not just me, King has 70 percent of the film industry. Every name that is big enough, they are all there.” He also called SRK a great and charismatic personality and added, “In King, whatever I have done, it is all quite memorable.”
King is being directed by Siddharth Anand. In a conversation with Variety India, Anand opened up about the expectations surrounding the film, especially after the massive success of Pathaan in 2023.
When asked whether there is pressure to achieve certain numbers with King, he shared, “I wouldn’t say there’s pressure, but I would say there are expectations. And that comes when you work with a megastar like SRK. So, I’m aware of those expectations. But if I start pandering to them, then it’s a mistake; I’ll go wrong in my filmmaking. Because if there were a formula for catering, then everyone would be making blockbusters.”

He further explained that Pathaan wasn’t made with the sole intention of chasing box office figures. According to Anand, once a filmmaker starts following a so-called success formula, it leads to second-guessing audience tastes instead of trusting the story. He emphasised that the team is approaching King with the mindset of proving themselves once again. He said, “We need to pass the test again with the audience. We are working with that intention. We are aware of expectations, but we don’t succumb to the pressure.”
King will release theatrically on December 24, 2026.
