Savannah Guthrie’s mom, Nancy Guthrie, an 84-year-old author, was kidnapped from her home when she was asleep, as shared by the authorities. She was last seen on January 31, 2026, and following this, a search mission has been going on.

More than 100 people are working on this case, including the FBI. Earlier, a ransom note demanding millions of dollars in Bitcoin was shared with the media, and later was investigated thoroughly, which led to a Southern California man’s arrest. Following this, another new message was shared to News13, which was forwarded to the investigators. Now, Savannah, along with her siblings, shared a new statement, requesting their mom’s safe return home.

When the first note, demanding millions of dollars, surfaced, Savannah Guthrie shared a video, wherein she and her siblings asked the alleged abductor for reassurance about their mom actually being with the sender. They said that, as it’s now possible to manipulate images and videos, proof would be needed for them to move forward with the transaction.

On February 6, 2026, another new message was shared with a hidden IP address, as shared by the authorities. While the details of the message haven’t been disclosed, Savannah, in a new video, with her siblings agreed to pay the amount to the alleged sender, while asking for their mom’s safe return. Savannah could be quoted as saying:

“We received your message and we understand. We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.”

It was reported that News13 received a new message about Nancy Guthrie’s abduction, which was then shared with the FBI and the other investigators. It was shared that the message was sent from a hidden IP address, while the FBI announced a reward of USD 50K if anyone has any tips that could help in Nancy’s missing case. On the other hand, a follow-up investigation happened in Nancy’s home, and the roadway in front of her home was restricted.

To mention, two days earlier, traces of blood were witnessed in front of Nancy Guthrie’s home’s front door, which was later proved to be hers, through a DNA test. Nancy, although doesn’t have any cognitive issues, as per Savannah, she has a fragile heart, which leads her to be on medication. Savannah, in an earlier video, expressed her concern about her mom’s well-being, since she has been without any medicine for the last few days.

While nothing could be confirmed yet, earlier, several former FBI agents and experts shared that one of the possible reason of Nancy’s abduction can very much be revenge or profit. On the other hand, some even analysed the evidence and stated that it can also be the case that the kidnapping or abduction has a link to Savannah, especially due to her international profile. As of now, the investigators believe that Nancy is safe, and further investigation in this case has been going on.
