New Delhi: The Supreme Court has directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to carry out a preliminary inquiry into allegations surrounding the award of government contracts in Arunachal Pradesh.

The directive comes in response to claims that contracts worth approximately Rs 1,270 crore were granted to firms allegedly linked to family members of Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

The court has asked the CBI to examine the matter and determine whether a full-fledged investigation is warranted based on the findings of the preliminary inquiry.

The case has drawn attention due to the scale of the contracts involved and the alleged connections between the beneficiaries and the Chief Minister’s family.
