Actor Sean Bean’s wife Ashley Moore has revealed her hidden cancer battle as she shared a photo from hospital. Ashley, 40, decided to open up on her health that she had kept private as she thanked the “strong women” in her life.
The Game of Thrones actor, 66, married Ashley eight years ago and called her “the one” after four failed marriages. What many people didn’t realise is that Ashley has previously battled a cancer diagnosis behind the scenes.
She has now publicly shared she is a cancer survivor and got the all-clear from the disease in 2020. Making the announcement, Ashley posted photos of herself in a hospital gown as she smiled her way through her treatment.

“‘Many people don’t know the journey I’ve taken,” she shared. “But I’m so proud to be a strong woman and have such strong women supporting me.”
Opening up to her followers, Ashley wrote: “I’m cancer free now too. And loving life and it makes you appreciate everything so much more.” Ashley did not share when she was diagnosed with cancer or what type she faced.
The couple, who wed in 2017, made a rare public appearance just last week at the premiere of Sean’s new project, Robin Hood. Ashley joined him for the premiere of his new TV series about the famous Nottingham outlaw who stole from the rich to give to the poor.
The 66-year-old, who is best known for his roles in Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, stars as the Sheriff of Nottingham in the upcoming series, which will be released on November 2.
Sheffield-born actor Sean looked dapper in a camel coloured suit, which he teamed with burgundy brogues and a matching tie for the occasion. While Ashley donned a black trouser suit and white shirt that she accessorised with a Chanel necklace.
Sean and former actress Ashley met by chance in a London pub and at the time he’d been divorced four times and had three children – and vowed never to walk down the aisle again.
He previously told the Daily Mail : “I wasn’t planning on getting married again, but then I wasn’t planning on meeting someone as amazing as Ashley. I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together.”
Revealing how they met, he said in an interview with The Times: “We met in a pub, this old pub I used to go in, in town, called the Cobden Arms [in London’s Camden]. She was in there with friends and I came in with my friend and it was just a chance meeting. I used to go in there now and again, but it was the first time she’d ever been in. We kind of hit it off.”
Their meeting compelled self-confessed romantic Sean to pop the question again in 2014, with his fifth wedding happening three years later. Gushing about his wife, who has ‘changed his life,’ he said: “She’s full of life. Exuberant. Very positive energy.”
Speaking to The Times after marrying fifth wife Ashley, Sean admitted: “I’ve obviously experienced more marriages than most people. I suppose there is that romantic in me, otherwise, I wouldn’t keep doing it. But I don’t regret anything. I’d live it all again.”
