Actress Selena Gomez has launched the exact Rare Beauty self-setting and ‘sweatproof’ foundation worn on her wedding day
Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty has cemented itself as a cult-favourite make-up brand since its launch in 2019, and its latest release promises to be the perfect self-setting, self-priming, sweatproof base.
The True To Myself Foundation, priced at £35, launched last Thursday, 2nd April and is the exact complexion product Selena Gomez used on her wedding day. Talking about the new product on Instagram, Selena said, “From my wedding to the Sunset Blvd music video, to red carpets, and even quiet days at home…I’ve been wearing my new @RareBeauty foundation through it all. It self-primes, self-sets, and looks better as the day goes on.”
The foundation offers medium to full coverage and acts as a three-in-one product that primes, covers and sets. With a natural matte finish, it’s been formulated with sodium hyaluronate, ginger root and algae extract, so not only does it provide great coverage, but it also boosts the skin barrier and hydrates for up to eight hours.

Although it was only released less than a week ago, it has already begun to rack up the glowing reviews on SpaceNK (where the foundation is exclusively stocked in the UK for now). One shopper commented, “Surprised by how much I like this foundation. I have dry skin but with decent skin prep this looked so beautiful and lasted really well. Looked natural and didnt emphasise any skin texture. Really nice colour range too, very pleased that they do olive shades”
And a second added, “I’ve been using the Rare Beauty True To Myself Foundation for a bit now and I’m really happy with it. It feels lightweight on the skin but still gives good coverage, evening everything out nicely. The finish looks natural, not too matte or shiny. It blends easily and wears well throughout the day without looking patchy. It also doesn’t feel heavy or clog my pores, which is great overall”
However, one customer did criticise the dry formula. They wrote, “This foundation is not worth the price, looks good on initial application, then half an hour later it looks patchy and settles into fine lines and looks dry. There’s plenty of other foundations out there that are much better quality.”
If you’re not a fan of full coverage bases, a skin tint may be the way forward, especially with summer on the way.
When I am wearing a skin tint, my go-tos include Ilia’s Super Serum Skin Tint, £42, Sculpted By Aimee’s Hydra Tint, £23, and , the ultra-affordable Revolution Skin Blur Soft Focus Skin Tint, £5.
