Sharon Osbourne was full of praise for pal Robbie Williams ahead of his part in the supergroup tribute for Ozzy Osbourne at this year’s Brit Awards
Sharon Osbourne was quick to defend her choice of Robbie Williams to front a super band that will pay tribute to Ozzy Osbourne at the Brit Awards. This year’s ceremony sees the late rock legend honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award in Manchester.
The decision for former Take That star Robbie to sing No More Tears was questioned by some. However, Sharon has firmly shared her belief that he is the ideal person for the role.
Speaking on the red carpet at the Co-op Live, Sharon gushed over the Rock DJ singer and spoke of the friendship he and Ozzy had shared. She said the singer didn’t take much persuading to being a big part of the moment.

“He’s the most warmest, down to earth person,” Sharon said of Robbie. And she confessed she sees a number of the same qualities in Robbie as she did her husband.
Standing proudly alongside her mum, Kelly gushed the moment will be “beautiful” as it’ll be Ozzy’s closest friends paying tribute to him.

“They were mates,” Sharon went on. But she insisted that despite helping to form the group for the special rendition, she “let the musicians” take charge when it came to choosing the songs.
Robbie was invited personally by Sharon to be part of the tribute due to his friendship with the Black Sabbath front man and his long-standing love of the music., The band will also feature musicians that played as part of Ozzy’s band over the years; Adam Wakeman, Robert Trujillo, Tommy Clufetos and Zakk Wylde, as well as being fronted by the former Take That man.
Ozzy died aged 76 on July 22 last year, just weeks after he had performed at his Back to the Beginning concert.
Following the Brits ceremony, Sharon is set to return to the United States while Kelly stays in the UK. She recently decided she needs to be closer to her family and will now spend half the year at least in the United States with her kids and grandchildren.
She is a grandmother to Jack’s daughters – Pearl, Andy Rose, Minnie Theodora, and Maple Artemis – and another on the way and also to Kelly’s two-year-old son, Sidney.
Son Jack is getting ready to become a dad again and Sharon said she will be flying back to be on grandmother duty. Kelly and Sharon admitted Jack was “sad” not to be in the audience for the Brits performance.
