On February 23, 2026, Shikhar Dhawan took to his Instagram Stories and shared a note. In the note, the cricket legend clarified that he had never carried his past baggage, be it on-field or off-field. He mentioned that he firmly believed in positivity and held respect for his past. He highlighted that the journey he started with Sophie was a new journey and felt truly grateful for the love and blessings from his fans, friends, family, well-wishers and also media. Putting an end to fake narratives set involving his wife, Aesha Mukerji, he wrote:

“I have come across some posts on social media attributing a disappointing statement about my personal life. I have never carried baggage from the past be it on the pitch or outside. I firmly believe in the power of positivity while respecting my past. This is a new chapter in my life, and I feel truly grateful for the love and blessings I have received from my fans, friends, family, well wishers and media. I strongly urge people to not breed off my name with click bait, insensitive and false statements on social media. Let’s spread love and positivity. Thank you!”

Recently, an alleged statement made by Shikhar Dhawan involving his ex-wife, Aesha Mukerji, has gone viral. The cricket star reportedly said that when his first wife, Aesha, left him, she had said that no girl would marry him. However, his marriage to Sophie is allegedly a befitting reply to his ex-wife. He reportedly said:

“When my first wife left me, she had said that no girl would marry you, but I have given her a befitting reply by marrying again, will you not congratulate me on my marriage?”

In October 2012, Shikhar married the love of his life, Aesha, who is a trained kickboxer. While it was the cricket star’s first marriage, Aesha was getting married for the second time. She was previously married to an Australian businessman, and they welcomed two daughters, Rhea and Aliyah. Aesha became a mom for the third time when she welcomed a son with Shikhar Dhawan in 2014. However, in 2020, the couple’s marriage hit a rough patch, and in September 2021, they decided to part ways.

After their separation, Aesha shifted to Australia and took their son, Zoravar, with her and didn’t allow Shikhar to meet his son. In a 2024 interview with Humans of Bombay, the cricket legend spoke about his detached relationship with his son, Zoravar. He also expressed his feelings, confessing that he missed his son and felt sad about it. He was quoted as saying:

“Wherever he is, I hope he is happy, hopefully one day he will come and see me. I am in love with him but at the same time, I am also detached. I don’t want to push him. I write messages to him every day, I don’t know whether he is receiving those or not, whether he is reading it or not. I don’t have any expectations. I have accepted it. I am a father, and I am trying to do my duty. I miss him, I feel sad but I have learnt to live with it.”
