Simone Biles’ husband, Jonathan Owens, claimed a brazen thief tried to rob him while he was out shopping in Milan during the Winter Olympics.
The Chicago Bears safety, who’s 5 feet 11 inches and 204 lbs., described coming face-to-face with the would-be mugger in a “crazy” ordeal on Sunday.
“Not somebody just tried to snatch my shopping bag in Milan, force of habit I had it tied around my hand so he couldn’t get it and took off running immediately … but still crazy,” the NFL star wrote on X.
The 30-year-old said he was already prepared for a possible robbery attempt after watching TikTok videos about pickpockets in the Winter Olympics’ host city.
“Should’ve seen his face once he realized I turned around and he couldn’t grab it,” Owens added.
Asked by a fan if he had considered chasing down the would-be thief and tackling him, Owens quipped that the perp was “not fast at all.”
“Honestly bro it was hilarious how slow he started running away once he saw he couldn’t grab it out of my hand,” he said.
“I’ve seen too many TikToks of that happening so I was prepared.”
It wasn’t immediately clear if his Olympic gymnast wife was with him at the time.
Biles had shared a snap of herself shopping with her hubby in a Bottega Veneta store earlier on Sunday.
“Always spoiling me,” she wrote alongside a snap of Owens embracing her in the store.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2023, were spotted yukking it up at various Olympic events all weekend — including the men’s figure skating final on Friday night and the speed skating on Valentine’s Day.
