Sonam Kapoor Ahuja recently shared some family moments from her baby shower. In the glimpses shared on social media, Sonam is seen enjoying with her family and friends during her Godh Bharai at her Mumbai home.
Sharing the glimpses on social media, Sonam wrote, “Seemantonnayan the third of the sixteen sacred sanskars in Sanatan Dharma. Often called the ‘hair-parting ritual,’ it honours the mother and the life she carries. Known as Godh Bharai, Shrimant, Dohale Jevan, Shaad, Seemantham, Valaikappu, Seemantha, Pulikkudi and Sadhabhakshan across different parts of India — the names may change, but the blessing remains the same: love, protection and celebration of new life. This ancient ritual felt even more meaningful because all my best friends in the world showed up for me. My whole family did too. I felt so held. And to my mum, my mother-in-law, and my sister — thank you for organising everything and making me feel so deeply loved, cherished and celebrated. I will never forget this. A lap full of blessings. A heart overflowing with gratitude.”
Fans and well-wishers took to social media to congratulate Sonam. The mom-to-be wore a customised lime-green lehenga, which is made of soft mul fabric. Anand Ahuja, her husband, opted for a white kurta pyjama with golden detailing. Opening up about the ensemble, Sonam wrote, “This look was made with so much love. Shehla created this soft mul custom outfit for me, hand-painted, hand-embroidered, and crafted with the kind of care that only comes from deep understanding and trust. Grateful beyond words for you, Shehla, and for my sister Rhea, who have stood by me unconditionally, always. It truly takes a village, and I’m endlessly thankful for mine.”
