Superheroes and supervillains from Marvel and DC Comics have been adapted on screen by various filmmakers and production companies over the years. Amazon MGM Studios has now collaborated with Sony Pictures Television, Lord Miller Productions, and Pascal Pictures to bring Spider-Noir. It is the first show set in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, which started with Venom in 2018. The series has been in development since 2023.

Nicolas Cage will be playing the lead in the upcoming show. The actor has previously portrayed the popular supernatural antihero from Marvel Comics, ‘Ghost Rider,’ in two films, released in 2007 and 2011. The trailer of the series was released on February 12, 2026, and audiences have shown their excitement as they reacted to the glimpse. With another superhero from the comic book making his screen debut, keep reading to know more about the new adaptation.

The release date for Spider-Noir was confirmed with the trailer that came out on February 12, 2026. The show will arrive on Amazon Prime Video with eight episodes on May 27, 2026. However, it will be released on MGM+ on May 25, 2026. Compared to other shows, it won’t have a weekly release for each episode since all eight episodes will be premiering on the same day. However, viewers will get two options to watch the episodes, either in color or black-and-white. Both versions have been described as True-Hue Full Color and Authentic Black & White in the trailer.

Spider-Noir is expected to have a dark tone compared to other entries in Sony’s franchise

Spider-Noir will be set in an alternate world, focusing on the life of ‘Ben Reilly,’ also known as ‘The Spider.’ Ben used to be a hero and retired a long time back due to an unexpected tragedy. However, ‘Ben’ is forced to return to his life as ‘The Spider,’ as he is brought face-to-face with ‘Silvermane,’ a mob boss in New York City. ‘Silvermane’ and ‘Ben’ also have a history, which is expected to play an important role in taking the story forward.

Oren added that ‘Ben’ will get dragged into a fight that he doesn’t want to be a part of, and ‘Ben’s’ confrontation with ‘Silvermane’ will bring him close to his origins.

Spider-Noir will feature multiple actors playing the lead and supporting roles
