Veteran Malayalam superstar, Sreenivasan passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the age of 69. The legendary figure succumbed to a sudden health trouble and died quietly with his wife, Vimala, by his side. Sreenivasan was a multifaceted individual with credits as an actor, screenwriter, and filmmaker. Sreenivasan’s funeral will be held at his Kadanad residence

Sreenivasan passed away at approximately 8:30 a.m. on December 20, 2025. Following that, his body has been brought to his house in Kerala’s Kandanad in Ernakulam. After that, it has been shifted to the Ernakulam Town Hall, where Sreenivasan’s body will be kept from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for public viewing, as reported by Mathrubhumi. The Njan Prakashan star’s friends, family, and admirers from all across Kerala gathered to pay him tribute. Sreenivasan’s funeral is scheduled for the morning of December 21, 2025, at 10 a.m., at his residence in Kandanand.

Sreenivasan’s sons and high-profile celebrities arrived for his last rites

Both of Sreenivasan’s sons, actors, Vineeth Sreenivasan and Dhyan Sreenivasan, along with his wife Vimala, were present at their residence in Kandanad to receive his mortal remains. Sreenivasan’s elder son, Vineeth had reached Tripunithura General Hospital earlier before the actor’s body was brought home. Younger son, Dhyan Sreenivasan, was reportedly inconsolable upon reaching the residence and looking at the lifeless body of his father. Both siblings had emotional breakdowns upon receiving the news of Sreenivasan’s sudden death.

Besides Sreenivasan’s family, other actors and politicians also paid their condolences, and some are even reported to be visiting the deceased’s body. Veteran star, Mammootty, and his wife, Sulfath, were among the first to arrive at the late star’s residence to pay their last respects. Mammootty and Sreenivasan shared a strong bond that went beyond the sets of films. Besides them, Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan is also scheduled to visit the Ernakulam Town Hall to offer his condolences.

How did Sreenivasan die?

Sreenivasan passed away on December 20, 2025, at the Tripunithura Taluk Hospital in Kochi after suffering from a sudden medical emergency. The actor had been battling prolonged health issues for several years, as reported by Mathrubhumi. He was undergoing treatment for age-related cardiac ailments at his residence in Udayamperoor. Moments before Sreenivasan breathed his last, he was being transported for a scheduled dialysis when he experienced physical distress and was hurriedly admitted to the hospital in Thrippunithura. There, he was pronounced dead by the doctors. His wife, Vimala, was reportedly present by his side in his final moments, as he left the world peacefully.
