PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Amica Mutual Pavilion will be loud and angry, as hostile an environment as St. John’s has played in all season.
Providence, for all of its struggles during this underwhelming season that will likely cost coach Kim English his job, remains at its best in its own building in front of its feisty fans.
But don’t expect the No. 17 Johnnies to let the atmosphere unnerve them. They have been at their best away from home. Entering Saturday’s meeting, St. John’s is one of only two power conference teams to be undefeated in true road games. Second-ranked Michigan is the other.
It’s not just that St. John’s (19-5, 12-1) is perfect in six conference games on the road, it is the manner in which it has gone 6-0. The numbers are stunning, head-shakingly good.
