I probably took it off to go to the toilet or something, I don’t know!”

Stacey then joked that Joe is too busy constructing a ‘lake’ at their home Pickle Cottage to take notice. Stacey once again joked: “It’s filling up! Maybe I dropped my ring in the lake? With our marriage,” leaving the television hosts in stitches. She added: “What has he been saying? Do you know what, I’ve got to start checking my social media more!”

The versatile 36-year-old star, whose talents range from vocal performances to home improvements, lives a happy life at Pickle Cottage alongside her cherished youngsters. Whether it’s her well-documented struggle with cigarettes that sparked fierce public debate, or the severe dental problems that prevented her from eating properly, Stacey has ensured supporters glimpse the tougher aspects of her world – earning widespread praise for her honesty.

After Stacey put the rumours that there she is going through marriages woes to bed, the Mirror examines some of the endearing presenter’s most refreshingly honest revelations…

Wigs

Back in 2018, the Dagenham native introduced followers to ‘Suze’ – her reliable hairpiece which helps disguise her ‘long, grown-out roots and frizz’ during television slots and romantic evenings with spouse Joe Swash.

In a bathtub clip posted on Instagram, Stacey appeared relaxing in the tub with ‘Suze’ positioned across her leg – creating the eerie illusion of a blank visage.

In the video, titled ‘wig dramas’, Stacey explained: “I thought my wig needs a wash and I thought, I’d bring her in the bath with me. But I’m totally weirded out right now, because my knee looks like a person without a face.” Numerous followers were baffled by the footage, questioning why Stacey required a wig.

Soon after, Stacey wrote an article for The Sun, revealing she’d invested £1,000 in her trusted wig, Suze, and that it had been money well spent. The star, who was just 29 at the time, disclosed that “years of bleaching, tonging, blow-drying and straightening” had caused significant damage, leaving her natural hair “completely ruined”.

Stacey, who confirmed Suze had been her “secret companion on Loose Women“, wrote: “People always warned me not to dye my hair too much or use too much heat but I ignored their advice. I always wanted to go blonder, straighter, slicker. The result? Wiry, broken strands and a psoriasis-ridden scalp. Stress causes flare-ups and it’s so damn itchy.

“The only way I can get my natural hair back is to stop styling it, but that’s impossible. My roots are 50 per cent ash brown, 50 per cent grey. I’m in my late 20s and it’s so depressing. I don’t want to look really old. My ends are bleached within an inch of their lives so I look like I have zebra hair that fades into yellow noodles. Also, I have very thick, coarse Jewish hair so washing and leaving it is not an option.”

Crumbling teeth

Stacey made it to adulthood cavity-free – but that all shifted when she fell pregnant with her second son Leighton back in 2012. The mother-of-five’s once-pristine teeth became discoloured with yellow and brown staining, whilst even simple breathing became unbearable.

Speaking to Fabulous, Stacey confessed to having veneers fitted, describing her natural teeth beneath as resembling ‘little brown pegs’. Reflecting on the ‘excruciating’ dental torment she suffered throughout her second pregnancy, Stacey said: “I couldn’t eat anything too hot or cold because it was excruciating and even breathing in cold air through my mouth was agony.”

“If it was cold outside, which is 99.9 per cent of the time in England, I couldn’t even talk when I was outside, they were so sensitive. Whatever was going on with me decided to settle around four months into my pregnancy, but I was left with brown, decayed teeth and, for the first time ever, I felt really down about my smile.”

Cigarette struggle

Stacey previously faced unfortunate backlash after pictures of her emerged smoking a cigarette while husband Joe played with their kids. An source told New! Magazine: “Stacey is a sensitive person and she will be upset if anyone is thinking of her in a negative way. She’s had a lot of stick in the past about smoking and she finds it difficult. The comments can be hurtful.”

Back in 2012, Stacey opened up about her battle to quit the cigs while pregnant with her son Leighton. In a candid admission on This Morning, the presenter confessed that, despite managing to cut down to 10 a day, ditching the habit altogether had proved to be a very difficult task.

Stacey explained: “At the end of the day, nothing that I can say makes it right. All I can say is that from the day I found out that I was pregnant, I have tried my best to give up. I completely understand why people would be angry, because for some people it’s incomprehensible. As soon as you get pregnant, you think you need to stop. I did smoke between five and 10 a day, but I completely cut down and from there on I have been trying to stop.

“I’m smoking between one and three a day, if that… I just thought I would be able to quit. And some days I’ve done really, really well and had none but there are some days when I have had some. I’m doing my best to just go without, but sometimes it’s not just as easy to cut it out.”
