Joe Swash had spoken about the possibility of having more children with his wife Stacey Solomon just minutes before the unexpected live-on-air phone call
Joe Swash has made an unexpected admission about his marriage to Stacey Solomon – following a hilarious live-on-air interruption. The actor appeared on the Heart Radio Breakfast Show with hosts Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston on Monday to promote his new programme, Batch From Scratch: Cooking For Less.
While Joe discussed ways families could cut food bills and reduce kitchen stress, he was momentarily distracted by his ringing phone. After revealing it was his wife Stacey calling, Amanda and Jamie urged him to answer it live on air.
Seconds later, the reality star could be heard saying, “You alright, have you got five minutes?” – at which point Joe, Amanda, and Jamie quickly reminded her that she was on loudspeaker and being heard by everyone in the studio.
Seemingly caught off guard by the unexpected audience, she didn’t linger and quickly said, “Love you, bye,” before hanging up.
Reflecting on the brief moment, Joe appeared flustered as he said: “That’s my fault, I’ve definitely forgotten to do something. She only phones me this time of the morning when I’m in trouble.”
Analysing the conversation, he added: “It was very much an ‘Is anyone there?’ moment. I was like, ‘Yeah,’ [and she meant], ‘Alright, we’ll speak later.’ I think I was meant to move the car, but I’m not sure.”
During the same interview, Joe also discussed the couple’s recent skiing trip with their children over half term.
The pair, who married in 2022, are parents to Rex, six, Rose, four, and Belle, three – as well as Stacey’s sons Zachary, 17, and Leighton, 14, from previous relationships, and Joe’s son Harry, 18.
Asked how they manage to pack and organise a trip with so many children, Joe admitted: “It’s a military operation.
“Stacey is very good at it, she’s very organised, but yeah it’s definitely a couple of days in planning to make sure we don’t lose no kids.”
Questioned further on the pair having any more children, he continued: “I love kids, we’ve got so many of them, but you never know what life throws at you.”
In response, the host joked: “She’s got at having babies!”, to which Joe replied: “For now, I can assure you there are no more children on the way.”
Last year, however, Stacey appeared to rule out having more children due to health concerns. During a conversation with her sister Jemma in the second series of Stacey & Joe, the mother-of-five opened up about feeling peri-menopausal.
She said to Jemma: “I think I’m going through the menopause. I think I am definitely peri-menopausal, I am so snappy.”
The former X Factor star went on to reveal she had a session booked with Ollie – a physiologist who had often supported and advised her with medical concerns.
Stacey added: “If you could test tolerance, mine would be at an all time low. I think we have always in the back of our heads known that on mum’s side, the menopause came early.
“If I am going through the menopause and that’s it for me, no more children, then I think… animal sanctuary!”.
